I am New to Tea

You may find the tea that is most like coffee is ripe puerh, although it is a bit of an acquired taste. I can be as dark as coffee.

Hi and welcome. Are you trying to find a coffee-flavored substitute or something that will take cream and sugar well or a completely different taste? There are sooooo many teas.

Let us know if there are some tea shops near you and we might be able to suggest a few good teas to try. Also, most shops will make a sample for you before you buy which is a very good way to get started. Most tea shop employees (okay, I’m generalizing in a positive way) are very willing to help new tea drinkers.

@swest87 Me too! I’ve just been reading and trying different teas. I love the dragon black pearl from Adagio, which is also where I got my tumbler. I like carrying my tea around and sipping it through the day because, like you, I’m moving from coffee.

Welcome! Don’t know that I have much to add to the good advice I am reading here—these tips are great. When you start venturing into the world of green and white teas, pay attention to recommended time and temp suggestions, otherwise, you’ll have a cup of nothing but bitter. If, like me, you’re not a “precisely” person, good solid black teas that give you some leeway to walk off and forget the mug are best.
