My mom loves any tea that I send her :P She drinks mostly tisanes, but I gave her some peach-flavored oolong and she loved it!

I took several teas for my mother to sample the last time I visited. Everything from “sparkle pony” teas to the high end stuff. Her favorite was a middle of the road smores flavored one. She brews in a Kati cup.

Haha, my mother does not like tea. She drinks several pots of black coffee every day, and she loves it. She does, however, OCCASIONALLY drink a Presidents Choice brand teabag called Feeling Soothed with ginger, mint, and fennel. Her therapist started her on it, and she does seem to enjoy it. Usually she microwaves the water, but I also got her to boil it on the stove in a pot. I also have her drinking it when she is sick. But she really does love her coffee. Blech!

My mom loves coconut teas the best, especially coconut oolongs and her recent favorite has been Cocomint Cream by DavidsTea. She mostly drinks tisanes as she’s like me with caffeine (aka rather sensitive haha), with her favorites being fruitier blends and anything with coconut or ginger! As for brewing, she always uses a brew basket unless it is a bagged tea, and she is not fussy about steeping times, she just lets it stay in there haha drives me nuts but she still loves the tea! :)

Thank you very much much for sharing and your support.what is coconut oolongs? Sounds so interesting.

Thanks! The coconut oolongs she enjoys are tieguanyins flavored with coconut, I think natural and maybe artificial flavoring. They are very creamy with the green oolong base!

My momma is a tisane kind of lady. She kicked the coffee habit years ago and usually drinks anything with a roasted flavor profile. She likes chicory root, barley tea in the summer, and houjicha. She has these three tea sets that I have absolutely loved as a child, we would have little tea parties together when I was younger!

That’s so cute. I wish my mom was like that.

My mother is a white tea kind of lady, the more fruity notes the better. She has been fascinated by it ever since we were children and went to go visit her aunt (who is a spunky 99 year old independent lady to this day) who served us white tea and told us about how rare it was. At the time you could hardly find white tea in the US! Last year for Christmas I got her your white tea sample set, and she loved them! So did my sister though… who takes after her tastes and stole most of them.

I just really need to get her an easier way for her to brew loose leaf teas, she has one of those spoon things atm. And maybe something more accurate to boil water than the microwave!

Pot on the stove! Let it sit for a few mins to cool for “sensitive” teas. It’s practically free! :)

shakes fist curse those spoon things!

My variable temp kettle – variant, variable, something – was no more than $40. It works great. You should check those out. The ones that come with a separate heating unit makes it easier to fill and pour.

I LOOOVE my variable temp kettle. We’re on year…three? Together.

Oooh what is a good budget variable kettle? My mom and sister have been using boiling water for their tea _ which I didn’t know until my sister asked me the other day why her green tea always came out so bitter when she made it! lol. So they both might be getting one soon.

And yes Dodo… curse those spoon things, no room to expand. I am on the lookout for a giftset with a finum brewer in it for mother’s day.

Phi, I like adagio’s variable kettle. Depends on the definition of “budget,” but it’s like 50 bucks.

the Hamilton-Beach digital programable kettle is a great bargain variable kettle, it’s usually around $40 at walmart or amazon, I love mine.

sansnipple said

also, for super easy brewing by clueless family members, get them a finum brew basket, one simple $10 tool that’s non-intimidating and fool-proof.

I don’t think mine is made anymore, but it was by Sunbeam, less than $40 and uses 5 degree increments (celsius).

My mom was a big coffee drinker until I became obsessed with teas and dragged her in with me. She still drinks coffee, but she also enjoys a cup of black tea in the afternoon/evenings. I think her favorite is whatever I steep up for her because she is “too lazy” to do it herself, haha!

I also replied on Instagram but my mom only drinks herbal and decaf teas! I recently got her a nice stainless steel steeper :)

My mother grew up in Romania, so she is most familiar with the Eastern European tradition of drinking blended black teas with lemon. She usually likes drinking herbals when sick, usually chamomile, chamomile with honey, mint, and lemongrass.

Tea bag in a mug. I brew loose mint and lemongrass in ball infusers for her.
