Nepal Earthquake - More than 7,800 Dead, 18,000 Injured, 400 Missing

With more than 7,800 dead, many thousands injured and homeless, the people of Nepal are going to need a great deal of assistance from the rest of the world to cope with this immense tragedy.

Led by What-Cha’s earthquake relief pledge, David’s Tea and Nepali Tea Traders are also offering assistance.

If you’re a tea lover who feels for the immense loss of the Nepal earthquake victims and you’re interested in assisting, please consider purchasing tea from one or more of these Nepal tea suppliers who also want to support the Nepalese people in their time of greatest need in more than 80 years.

It would be terrific if the world-wide tea community worked together to give back to an underdeveloped tea-farming nation who’s lost so much and will continue to suffer as a result of this horrible tragedy.

You’re welcome MzPriss.

Earthquake relief assistance through Nepal tea sales will provide immediate aid (the portion of sales donated by the tea supplier) in addition it will also create a sustainable source of income for Nepal from tea.

Tea lovers who purchase Nepali tea will be able to smile as they enjoy their favorite teas grown far away from the pollution of urban environments. They will also have a feeling that they have helped contribute to those who are in desperate need for the basics of life, which many of us in the developed world typically take for granted.

The tea region of Nepal is in the east, on the opposite side of the country from the earthquake epicenter and tea estates and estate owners appear to be fairly unaffected compared to the areas much closer. I’m not saying don’t buy Nepalese tea, I’m saying if you want your purchase to contribute to earthquake relief, check to see if your purchase will be earmarked for this purpose.

Nepal is an underdeveloped country. The recent quake, their biggest in over 80 years, will significantly impact their struggling economy for years. Anything that will bolster their exports after this devastating quake will be critically important for jobs, their economy and their recovery.

" …earthquake relief, check to see if your purchase will be earmarked for this purpose."
Always a good idea. See 2nd-paragraph links in original post.
