MIITO – the sustainable alternative to the electric kettle

When I first posted here way back, my husband told me he made a preorder donation for the precise version – haven’t confirmed with him recently if he really did (sometimes he says he “did” something past tense with intention to do, and then forgets :o lol). I guess Ill find out eventually.

For anyone that was still waiting for the launch of this product, it’s not going to be happening unfortunately. It was announced recently that the company went bankrupt and development of the kettle has stopped.

Wow, they raised over €800,000, that’s over $1 million over the past few years. They got huge hype in big publications. Then bankrupt. What a scam.

Agreed, I think a lot of the backers would consider this a scam. Initially they presented that they were a lot further along the R&D and whole process than they actually were.

It’s a lot of start up money compared to like a $4k tea project that involves going to China to source tea, a common Kickstarter idea. Looks like they knew they were in trouble by spending some money on tea to sell for last Christmas. Probably trying to save the sinking ship.

Oh… I was keeping an eye on this product and would have been interested in getting one. I know that the feedback and questions on their kickstarter page was getting impatient (to say the least) such a shame.

Same here, had my eye on this kettle for a while. But it’s been 5 years already and they failed to get it off the ground. No wonder their backers were getting impatient. The technology wasn’t exactly groundbreaking,.its just a modified induction burner after all, so I don’t understand what happened.

Anyhoo, last year i ended up buying a mini induction burner and gooseneck kettle with a built in thermometer from Amazon to simulate this product for less than half the price. Quite satisfied with this setup and won’t miss the miito.
