Good years for tea

I recently read that like wine, there are some years better than others for tea production.

I read that 2010 was a good year. Any other recently year? (I want to buy some pu erh cakes to age).

I too am curious about this, but have been able to find very little information. I did heard 2008 was a bad year though (over harvesting from the years before due to the pu erh boom) although the 2008 cakes I’ve had taste fine to me.

I think conditions can vary a good deal in the same harvest. Farmers can choose to harvest early or late in the season.

That being said, I think if you search around TeaChat you can find some information on individual harvests. 2009 was supposedly an all-around very decent year.

I have read that from 2006 to 2008 were bad years because of the over harvesting and then things went ok again, but I also read that in 2010 de production was 1/3 lower and as consequence the tea was better.
