Are these all teas which I will be able to openly acquire more of if I find one that I love? If so, then count me in as confirmed.

Please consider me still in :) Thank you for this opportunity!

In regards to paying upfront: I want to wait until November because there was a hint that Taiwan Craft Tea will release an aged oolong by the end of this month; I figure that squeezing in $2 or $3 more won’t compromise anyone.

Side note, TeaUrchin is allowing me to purchase 150g of the 1986 Lishan for $105 :)

If you use those clear bags, please get rid of that purple marker. LOL. Im telling you I cant make out half of what you have sent to me so far. If I didn’t have a messed up retina in my left eye, Id be fine, but the eye causes me not to be able to see the light marker on the light background.

I will be printing labels for these.

And thats why you are a Tea ROCK STAR! WOOT!!

I am but a Padawan who dedicates many hours to the tea community.

‘One’ of these companies is trying to tell me it cost $20 to ship anything under a kilogram.

What…?
Time for discussion.

Not surprising. I assumed Chawangshop would charge that much. I don’t think it’s an attempt to price gauge, some companies just price things that way – lowish prices and high shipping costs. I guess we just have to decide whether the total cost is worth it. Or if someone we know is placing an order with said company, if we can tack our items into it.

Tea Urchin is providing free shipping because of reviews that came about from the Tea Urchin group buy; which is very kind of them.
TeaTrekker will be over $100 so shipping is free.
Taiwan Craft Tea will include free shipping.

Chawangshop is who I need to get a real quote from (which I just sent an email out).

I’m also changing up the rock oolong selection due to shipping cost, but it’ll probably free up more money for Taiwan Craft Tea as well since they hinted to me in an email about a new aged oolong… we shall see.

First portion ordered:
$110 TeaUrchin
$122 + $? TeaTrekker (awaiting separate invoice to up everyone from 7g to 10g)

Updates: Chawangshop has said shipping will be $10 which doesn’t change pricing and Floating Leaves has let me know they are about to receive a shipment of 1990’s TGY that will different than what they have had before so I am keeping an eye out. This group buy just keeps getting better and it’s only three people away from a full load :)

Awesome! I’ll volunteer to double up if necessary so you don’t get stuck with too much of a bill to foot.

I was trying to be good… but this sounds amazing. I’m in if there’s still room.

Ethically I don’t want to be responsible for you to be ‘bad’ because I allowed it… however, I am a moral monster when tea is involved :)

You’re way to young to remember Steppenwolf, but I’ll quote anyway:
“God Damn the pusher man”
or maybe you’re the dealer:
“who’ll sell you lots of sweet greens”

Why is it that some of the coolest stuff pops up on Ebay and it can’t be found elsewhere?

I mean, this looks badass… http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999yr-aged-Hehuanshan-Red-Water-GABA-Oolong-Taiwan-150g-/181894183602?hash=item2a59bcfab2 and sounds that way too!

There’s also oolong pressed with pu’erh and aged on Ebay :/
All of these Ebay teas may be horrible horrible teas, but what if they are actually the next best thing that nobody knows about yet?

I’m really curious about this and am tempted to join. Are you going to do more of these group buy type things for other styles?

Next year I will do more. Someone has asked me to do a sheng sampler, but that literally would take months to organize for style of storage, factory, and taste profile. The hardest part about that would be pricing and breaking up the cakes; or getting enough interest with those who would trust me to do such a thing.
Yellow teas would be simple since there are not many out there. Every year I’ll do a Japanese tour with YUNOMI because I really love some first harvested Japanese tea. Time will tell what I do, but a sheng sampler will probably go through after I do lots of research and soak up all the information that fellow Steepsters on here provide since they have been in the pu’ game much longer.

Currently I am in the process of buying a few kilograms of oolong that I really love to age further than it already has been. Others may also have the same thoughts with this… or they just want to try some unique aged oolongs and for $35-$40 how can you go wrong? 100ish grams, between quite a few different styles, and each session will resteep multiple times. Also, for me it’s really appealing to enjoy the teas with others all over online as we embark on a tasting journey.

I cant wait for this oolong buy, and I certainly cant wait for the Sheng one!

YES! That is the appeal to me. I’m trying to convince someone at work to split the cost with me so I can share the experience with someone else. It would be awesome to track the group buy on Instagram with a specific hashtag too.

Oooh… perhaps a yancha buy in the future? Puerh would be great, but I imagine a complete headache to break up the cakes into individual servings.

Rasseru said

Im the same, group discussions is good for learning.

Also, I’m new around here but am now a +1 for anything like this, any tea, any time

I vote for a future Yancha buy…
