Favourite Dan Cong?

Im interested in the various types of Dan Cong – I find each one i try really fascinating, and im just testing the tip of the iceberg.

My favourite so far is Ba Xian Eight Immortals. There is something about the balance and complexity in the aroma that really does it for me. I have tried three different premium Ba Xian since joining here a year ago and they always just make me close my eyes and grin.

Apparently there are 53 individual aromatics and im sure this is partly what contributes to my constant enjoyment of it.

Whats your favourite and why?

(on a sidenote, if anyone can tell me the best Ba Xian they have ever had, that would make me smile too)

My favourite so far is an Osmanthus Dancong I get from a local company. It reminds me of a whisky liquor my cousin brought back from Scotland with lovely honeyed notes, and a complex mix of spice fruit, cream and other notes. I also have really enjoyed lighter roast versions of the ‘duck shit’ Dancong that remind me of floral tgy with a citrus kick and I had a nice very honeyed Xue Pian Dancong that was quite memorable once I learned how to steep it.

Im just having a Ya Shi session and its making me do funny things – not sure if ive got a great one or not but my tastebuds and brainbox are doing cartwheels. its totally delicious. If it can get better than the one ive just sampled I will be in some sort of ducky heaven.

My favorite is Huang Zhi Xiang (specifically from Seven Cups). The name translates to yellow sprig but it’s basically gardenia fragrance. Intoxicating!

The price is reasonable too, only $15 for 50g.
