12 teas of Christmas from 52teas
I just finished writing my “review” for today, it will publish at noon Eastern Time… which is just about 15 minutes away.
I wrote my tealog in notepad while I was drinking my tea and saved it to my desktop. I will publish it after I finish my backlogging or after midnight EST if I finish my backlogging before that.
I went ahead and posted my tea log! I figured it’s late enough that most people would have looked by now. I think I’ll continue posting later in the day—if I wait until the next day I’ll probably forget!
What fun this is! I just sniffed the box, and there is definitely something chocolatey in there. :) I wonder what’s coming up tomorrow….
So, 3rd tea of Christmas – how are you guys liking the teas so far? I’m really having fun with this! I don’t know if I would buy more of any of them yet – perhaps the pina colada honeybush though.. But, still, it’s exciting to find a new tea each morning! :)
I LOVE it!!! I am having so much fun. I had purchased a sampler for myself and for a gift. The recipient of the gift and I have fun discussing the tea of the day each day! I really will be sad the day after Christmas when I don’t have a tea to open.
I am SO glad everyone is enjoying these! I have to say it was a serious nightmare getting everything together. I’m afraid some of the samplers ended up with varying size samples—I wasn’t sure what we could fit into the box!—and I think I burned through more ink and labels than I ever anticipated (Next year, you might get a rubber stamp with a hand-written date instead of the cute little daily labels on the outside. Maybe.
I do have more of the little kraft/foil pouches for more samples, and I think I might do some different sample sets after Christmas—maybe a chocolate sampler, a honeybush sampler, a ManTeas sampler… We’ll see.
I DID comment on that thread, but I guess it was after everyone else was done watching it.

ROFL!
Sounds like a great idea, except I think we would wind up with a lot of the same teas. By next Christmas we should have some NEW favorites.

I am really ecstatic to hear that you are all enjoying the sampler.
You know, Frank… we WOULDN’T end up with the same teas if you got busy and started blending some more new ones. hahahaha!
On a more serious note, I love my sampler. I love waking up (which in itself is rather amazing) to see what tea awaits me for the new day!
Well, the 12 teas of Christmas are over! This was so much fun! It was awesome to wake up each morning with a surprise waiting for me. I really should try new teas more often – although, my overstuffed tea cabinet may not be very happy with that! :)
Did anyone else find a few new favorite teas? I think I’ll probably order some of the Buttered Cinnamon Raisin Toast, and perhaps Sheri’s Blend or the Pina Colada Honeybush.
I agree, vegTea, this was quite fun. I loved having a new surprise every day! I have ordered buttered Cinnamon Raisin toast, and hope to order Neapolitan Honeybush, Sheri’s Blend, chocolate mint and Gingerbread Chai if the gingerbread chai gets listed for a tea of the week or permanent.
I’m so glad everyone enjoyed the samplers. I’m jazzed about doing it again next year (though I think I will be getting started earlier). What did everyone think about the gift potential for the samplers? Did you think of people you wish you had gotten one for? (I know I did). Was the price point conducive to purchasing them as gifts? If we offered them at a rate of say $20 or $25 each in quantities of 4 or more, would you be more inclined to get a few to give away as gifts? (I keep thinking these would be great gifts for teachers, co-workers, etc… Shipping each one individually definitely raises our costs, but I could put 4 in a medium flat rate box and 9 in a large flat rate box. Everybody that I’ve heard from who got one just had a great time with them; maybe it would be worth buying nine of them to give away?
Definitely was super fun! I did give one as a gift this year and the recipient loved it! So next year I will plan to purchase again for the same person as well as would love some for a few others. So I think the discount rate for 4 or more I would take advantage of. (And of course another one for myself :)
The only downside was my samplers only had enough to make two cups of tea. It was enough to taste but I would have liked just a tad more tea…enough for maybe one or two additional cups just in case I messed up the first steep. Other than that I was super impressed and can’t wait for next year!!!!!!
And to answer VegTea question… From the sampler I realized I love the Banana Peach Green and want to purchase, the Strawberry Zabaglione, and Sheri’s Blend. These are all on my shopping list!
I found one new favorite, and that is the Gingerbread Chai. The best chai that 52Teas has made to date (at least, that I’ve tried). I had tried 10 of the other 11 teas, so really the only one that was new to me was the chocolate chai. It was pretty good too and I’m glad I got to try it because it was on my list.
We did have some hiccups figuring out the sample size. I initially intended to do it by weight, but after a first round of Pina Colada Honeybush samples, we tried to fit 12 of them in the box and there was no way. We probably over-compensated a little on the remainder of the samples, to make sure that they would fit in the box, but I think next time we will find a good happy-medium. I do think volume works better than weight, but perhaps instead of four teaspoons (which is what most of the samples were supposed to contain), we might go with 6-7.
Making preparations for our 12 Teas of Christmas 2011. Just thought you might want to know… :)
I’m so excited…I joined Steepster in January and had obviously missed the Christmas bounty. I don’t see myself resisting this year.
I look forward to this as well, but PLEASE do not release it (post it up for sale) until November. I’ve already exhausted my tea money for this month, and you just (without concern or thought to my finances, I’m sure!) released another VIT that I have to try. So, you just behave yourself, got it?
I actually hate to even mention it this early. But I have to start working on it NOW, and I just thought I would mention that it’s coming.
I looked all over to get the details of last years 12 teas of Christmas and found it here (I have a feeling you wouldn’t mind me posting this here, Frank):

Sounds like a great idea. Frank, I’ve been wanting a fun way to try many of your teas.
I’ll be ‘keeping my eyes pealed’.
If you want to see which teas were included, I did a set of 12 articles (one for each tea) on SororiTea Sisters: http://sororiteasisters.com/?s=%22Day+of+Christmas%22
Darn it! Reading your articles is just stirring up … stirring up … I don’t know what, but it’s stirring up something.
Thanks for the link, @LiberTEAS, and for writing the articles. I started at the first day, then stopped at the third. I think I am going to have to wait until it gets a wee bit closer before I think any more about this one!
I was really happy to see how much fun everyone seemed to have with these last year. I hoped they would be fun, but the banter here and in the tasting notes was better than I hoped. I really hope this is something folks will consider giving to their friends whether they are already tea junkies or candidates for conversion. :) I think these would be great for co-workers, teachers, etc. and I’m thinking hard about offering some special pricing on a set of four shipped to the same address. (I can fit four of them in a medium flat rate box from USPS.)
I’m also excited about the teas that made the list. We’ve created some really cool teas since last year, and I think the 12 teas are going to be a great assortment of goodies. Of course, the 12th one will be a new blend again, and it’s going to be awesome too. :)
Please do consider the set of four Frank, I know already that it would be a perfect way to introduce you to my tea loving friends who haven’t had the pleasure. yet. :)
Very excited to see this is coming. I have friends I would love to share with, one in particular would love the presentation and surprise of the twelve days teas! Yippee!
