I'm SO in trouble.

This isn’t like craft beer enthusiasm at all. A healthy alternative, sure. But NOT for my wallet! Oh my goodness. Not only am I completely fascinated by all of the different tastes and styles- there is all of the tea pots, and cups and brewing systems and accessories. Oh heavens I am in trouble for sure. <3 Glad to be here. :) rubs hands together

Do not go in the teaware lust thread. I repeat do not enter http://steepster.com/discuss/8002-teaware-lust at all. Walk past quickly and quietly.

It’s best not to fight it, enjoy the ride…wait no don’t listen to me, you’ll end up broke and in debt with nothing but a lingering sweetness on your tongue and broken clay in your hands…shhh…don’t listen to me…don’t fight it…let it go…buy more tea…see that teapot over there…yeah…that one with the fishcatlotusbirdflower on it…you want it…you need it…and this tea…this one here will be the most wonderful….NO, don’t fall for it…it’s a trap, an obsession, a waste of time and money and…come sit down, let me pour you a cup, ease your worries away…have you ever tried this tea before, you’re gonna love it…

No, but really. You’re SO in trouble.

I would have a ceremony to mourn the loss of my financial freedom, and my raise… But I should probably save the money for more “__” (stuff). and by “save” I mean spend. heh.

I feel lucky to have escaped the teaWARE pitfall so far. I’m perfectly happy with my gravity infuser and Starbucks travel mug, and don’t feel the need to buy anything else in that department. But man oh man, have I slipped down the rabbit hole of buying more and more tea. I want to try everything! And when I find something I like, I want to stockpile massive quantities of it so I won’t ever run out of it! Owie. My wallet hurts.

Rasseru said

me too. ive got a 90ml gaiwan set, a 150ml gaiwan, four medium cups and two small ones. and cup w/infuser & pot w/infuser.

I would buy everything and have a cupboard full, if I gave in to some of the porcelain I have seen. so beautiful.

currently trying to wait until the first flush and then I will spend a packet

OMG, so no variable temp kettle?! That one was a game changer for me.

Eveleaf said

Nope. I have boiling water on tap here at the office, which is terrifically convenient. My sister the math wizard even worked out an equation to tell me how much room temperature water to add to it, to cool for different teas (to 180, for example, or 190). She’s amazing like that.

I’d probably want a variable temp kettle for home use if I ever WAS at home. But who am I kidding. I pretty much live around the clock at work. /shrug

I totally just bought a variable temp kettle. It was delivered today. TOTAL game changer. :)

im thinking of selling a kidney. I mean, it filters OUT the tea. Why would I want that in my body while I can sell it, buy more tea and also need less tea for the required effect

nycoma said

i’ll buy your kidney, and brew its contents.

ewwwwwwww!!!

Eveleaf said

I’m going to do myself a favor and not think about that too hard.

OMG I HATELOVE you all. too much hehehe

Please please please never go on Instagram, never follow tea addicts, teaware addicts, tea vendors such as Yunnan Sourcing, White 2 Tea, Whispering Pines Teas, Crimson Lotus Teas. Never look at Peter Novak pots or shibos. You’ve been warned.

cries. Too late.
Its a sickness isnt it.
I totally expected to be “into” the teas. The teapots, and brewing systems caught me off guard. Tell me, is there anything else that will sneak up on me? I’m not sure if I want to know what i need to struggle to avoid or just so in fast and loose like Marla Singer and her uh.. support groups. My son did say that I needed a hobby… heh.

tea pets! and cups, and trays … oh and maybe taking pictures … and the community itself (both in person and social media / internet)…

I found myself went from buying teaware to making my own teaware… that’s why I realized how addicting tea is. but it was too late. Then I was blending my own teas before I knew it
