Is Zheng Yan Rock Tea Important to you?

I just came back from my tea trip of Wuyi Shan. According to local people Zheng Yan Cha/authentic rock tea (tea from Scenic Area) cost anything from 4000 CNY to 10000 CNY (1500 USD) per 500 gram. That is the price directly from the grower, so retail price of Zheng Yan Cha is even higher. How important is Zheng Yan for you? Is that worth the price?

Our Yan Cha are coming from high mountain of Xing Cun (Part of Wuyi Shan, not Zheng Yan), What would you think about it? Just a comparison, best tea from there is 228 USD/500g

I have never tried this tea so I cannot say it is important to me. However, if the price were not too much in US Dollars and available in sample sizes I might consider trying it. I have no idea how much 10,000 CNY is in US currency.

10,000 CNY is about 1500 USD.

Just give you a comparison, Xing Cun (high mountain) where I get tea from is not considered as Zheng Yan, the best tea from there (buy bulk) 1500 CNY/500g – 228 USD/500g.

1500 US Dollars is more than I am currently ready to spend of 500g of tea. I don’t have that sort of cash. Even the 228 amount is too much to pay unless I have sampled it first and it is so good I can’t live without it.

In last 10 years the prices are going up like crazy. Sometime, I am asking if the Chinese tea market has gone mad?
