Newbie: looking to buy a mobile tea bottle

After reading a thread on here from the past , everyone was saying libre tea was the way to go. So I’m about to pull the trigger on the Libre Glass’n Poly infuser 14oz and just want to make sure I’m making a good investment. Considering I’m totally new to this any suggestions of other brands to buy would be greatly appreciated, along with reviews.

I’ve reviewed a number of travel tea things, including the Libre. http://oolongowl.com/category/tea-gear/travel-tea-tumblers/

It kinda depends on what you need – removable filter? Mega heat retention? Leak proof? Looks pretty?

Admittedly, Libre is my most disliked travel tea tumbler. DavidsTea has a really good selection and some great tumblers. Also worth checking out Timolino and Zojirushi brand.

Im looking for something with a lot of heat retention, leak proof, durable, and though I’m currently using tea bags I hope to soon get into using those filters for the loose tea . I do want something stylish but I’d be able to take the cut if I could find something with those qualities.

If you want heat retention don’t go with glass. Glass may according to some make better tea but a stainless steel tumbler will have better heat retention. The Zojirushi brand thermos I have doesn’t have a tea infuser but it does keep tea hot for at least eight hours. Zojirushi now makes one with a tea infuser. I have been wanting to buy it but haven’t gotten around to it.

I’ve just bought a Libre and it’s been treating me well. Heat retention is pretty good (better than all glass but not as good as zorjurishi), it’s actually more than I need since I tend to fill it and drink it on the go and it’s often much too hot still by the time I get anywhere. The inside is glass so I imagine if you do drop onto concrete it it might break, but then again I’ve had plastic bottle bust doing the same thing. It works best for me with tea that can oversteep without becoming undrinkable. Note that you can not close the bottle while it’s steaming and expect it not to leak so the upside down brewing method only works for green tea that can be brewed at low temps.

Got it , thanks for the opinion. I think I may go with the libre it sounds like it has a lot of the qualites im looking for. Then again it’s the only brand I have in mind right now.

I have two Libres, which I love: a black one and a silver metal one. That said, I use them at home, so that I do not have them rolling around and leaking in my bag. For days that I am out and about and want hot tea, I carry either my David’s Teas carry mug or my Timolino. Both are leakproof and retain heat for hours. It really depends on your lifestyle and lists of priorities and of course, what type of tea you like to drink.

I really enjoy my Libre, but I will give the caveat that if you fill it too high or really hot water it can leak and sometimes the lid can rocket off spilling hot tea everywhere…weee. I like it best as a cold steeper, though it is quite useful for grandpa style steeping.

Alright thanks guys, after weighing the options I actually think I’m going to go with the Thermos with the infuser. I fear I’ll break the libre, I think I’m going to just end up buying both but the Thermos first.
