What is your best choice for "Earl Grey"
I am a newbie for the tea world, I just wanted to start learning it :) Which brands are better for a nice earl grey pleasure? Thank you.
I have tasted the twinnings, the premium harney and sons and one from vahdam teas. Of those 3 my favourite is the twinnings.
I like Harney’s for a basic. For heavier bergamot I like Earl Gold from Whispering Pines and Blue of London from Palais des Thes.
Welcome to Steepster, hope you are enjoying your tea journey so far!
You should definitely try Whispering Pines Earl Gold or Wild Grey if you are interested in reaching the “next level” of Earl Grey :-) My favorite EG indulgence by far! Here’s my recent Instagram post to explain why:
And I second Stock Man on Twimnings, I always keep some of their yellow bags around, a classic!
I just order some Earl Grey Aromatic from Simpson & Vail and will post a review after I receive it.
Or find a good Ceylon tea and add a touch of bergamot essential oil, perhaps.
Earl Grey Supreme by Harney & Sons!
Have anyone tried to do its own earl grey adding bergamot to a blck tea?
I’d be very careful about using bergamot or any oil. Some of the essential oils are far more powerful than people generally think, with far less being needed to achieve a result and using more becoming dangerous to your health. At least that is my understanding about external use – I have no experience or knowledge about oil use in foods. Just enough to caution. :)
Viennese Earl Grey from Harney & Sons is my personal favorite. It’s a Darjeeling Earl Grey.
The best Earl Grey I’ve tried was a vendor-produced version from Hatvala, a tea producer in Vietnam. I tried a decent commercial version not long ago from Cordon Bleu, the French cooking school. In the latter the bergamot oil was right at the limit of being too much, a nice balance point, although not much related to the black tea comes across in such a version.
I don’t particularly like Earl Grey because the bergamot tastes dirty to me. I’m also not that fond of citrus.
I did just receive a sample of Liquid Proust Tea’s Earl Pink. Since it was a gift, it seemed rude to give away, so I drank it.
I haven’t yet written my review, but I loved it. The bergamot was bright and fruity and the base was nice and sweet. I highly recommend it.
Excellent! I just ordered this over the weekend. It sounded wonderful and looks so pretty in the photo.
She even told me not to give it to her. Makes me smile when someone enjoys something I made that they thought they wouldn’t like.
