Wall Tins Davids Tea

Has anyone ever got to get the wall tin from Davids Tea?
I’m thinking of buying a big amount of some tea from there and was wondering if it’s possible that they let you have the wall tin too. (The big tin)

No they do not. Every birthday, Christmas, and anniversary for the last seven years I have tried to buy a wall tin for my wife. And every time I have been thwarted by corporate policy.

Do you mean the big 2 kg tins they have on their wall at the Davids Tea Store? I don’t think they sell those. I was able to get in store a 1 lb tin for a tea I was buying a lot of but they don’t list it on their website.

ha sounds like something id try. i think you would have better luck tracking down the manufacturer for their tins and buy a custom made?>idk, its a longshot.

That is a good idea, didn’t think of that.

Yeah, it’s too bad they won’t part with them. I got the idea when there was a bunch of the tea on sale and the staff said it would come to around $1,000 for like 7 wall tins of tea and he said he’d throw the wall tins in with it. But I only wanted one of the teas but he wouldn’t give away just one. what happened when I finally bought over 700grams in one shot they gave me three 250gr tins free with it. And I then contacted Davids tea on their website and they said they wouldn’t part with wall tins. Oh well, I tried. haha. Thank you guys for responding.

I know it is possible to find very large tins. Ask some independent tea store owners where they get their tins. They may be perfectly willing to tell you where to buy one. You are looking for something to hold over 2 kg of tea I guess. The biggest Teavana sells is for 1 lb of tea.

ya I remember when a tea seller went out of biz they were selling their giant tins. Shipping them is not cheap.

Though it is xmas season soon and those giant flavored popcorn gift tins might fit the ticket and be cheaper.

I love both of your ideas, never thought of either, thank you so much for the ideas. I will try and ask a small business tea store about that and I could imagine their face if I brought in the giant flavoured popcorn gift tins to fill full of tea, priceless.

Perhaps your going about getting a David’s Tea wall tin the wrong way. I don’t think they are made specifically for David’s Tea. If you could find out who sells them to David’s Tea you may be able to buy them from the source. However, this source may only sell a minimum of twelve or something like that.

What tea is so good that you want to order so much of it, or are you planning on starting a tea business?

Im just thinking about $1000 on my top 30 teas, and a couple of really expensive specialities vs (from my limited UK knowledge) what sounds like a flashy convenience store tea

I have a big attachment to cinnamint from davids tea. I haven’t found a replicate of it in the tea world and it has the kick in the step and I’ve always liked peppermint in tea, then with the warmth of cinnamon, it took me awhile to get used to those flavors together but now it’s all good.

Careful with buying too much of a single tea, especially an herbal tea. The oils will start to degrade and the tea will get stale after awhile.

I was just about to say that, even good teas i have 100-200g of are getting old.. I like around 50-100g at a time, then wait for the next season & buy more fresh.

Unless its a tea that ages well, of course :)

Maybe you can find a wall tin on Ebay.

Yes but if you notice it also says the lid is not air tight so long term storage is not recommended. But they are quite large.

My local tea store Clipper Ship Tea Company uses really large tea tins. They don’t have a website but they do have a facebook page. They are located in Northport, NY. You could call them and see if they would sell you one. They look like they are really good tea tins. As I don’t buy any loose tins in 2 kg quantities I have never asked them if they would sell me one. They probably don’t have any extras on hand but may be able to order more. They may have a minimum number they have to order though.

Thank you for the idea, I viewed the Clipper Ship tea company facebook page, it looks like a really nice store.

It’s the better of two local non chain stores I go to. There is a third store on Long Island but I’ve never made it there.

I was at Clipper Ship Tea Company yesterday and asked them how much their tins hold, they said five pounds. I would have taken a picture of their store but they have a no photographs policy.

Aww thank you for asking, very sweet. Yeah it’s a weird rule they have not taking pictures in most shops, but I guess it’s kinda a magical type place.

The wall tins at Clipper Ship Tea Company are quite a bit nicer than those at David’s Tea. Did you contact them about buying one?

Anyone got pics of the canisters concerned?

There will be no pics of the ones from Clipper Ship Tea Company. They have a no photography policy in their store. This is annoying because I would like to post images of my visits to Instagram. There is the slight possibility of a picture on their Facebook page.
