Tea of the day. Not sheng or shou

1991 aged oolong, courtesy of Liquid Proust. One of those pause before taking another sip to wait for the aftertaste to stop building sort of teas. There is some sourness, and a wisp of earthiness, but the main flavor is sort of licorice-like; it all seems pretty harmonious. Pretty thick, and seems to thicken in the aftertaste somehow. Doesn’t seem to have any roast taste, but I have little experience in aged oolongs to be sure. Some calming. One knock is that I wish the interesting steeps had lasted longer, but my regular pu drinking may be giving me a skewed sense of how long a tea should last. On the whole really good, and might have been even better if I’d gone with clay over porcelain.

This morning I am drinking Whispering Pines Cocoa Amore. This tea is good, notes of chocolate, cherries, and vanilla. Instead of sugar I used Tea Honey by the Savannah Bee Company. It’s nice because it provides an invisible sweetness. It doesn’t cover up the taste of the tea. I still get all the notes of the tea but the tea is sweeter.

Sounds wonderful. This tea is on my list for when I run out of Jabberwocky.

Drinking Hoplite, a preview of a new line of oolongs from White2Tea. It’s a wuyi oolong, beautiful long twisted leaves. It smells like incense, flowers and holy things. Spectacular.

I need to make myself a new oolong order soon, I’m waiting for the winter now. Bought too much puerh recently.. I’ll have to check them out. I hope the packaging is better lol. I didn’t like the non-w2t aesthetic  where’s my arty oolong

Finished off my red buffalo sample. Shared it with a friend who hasn’t tried my tea but heard me going on about it a lot.

It was a perfect intro, she loved it. It’s quite simple in its approach but the honey to woodsy spice she really liked. To me tastes high quality – it doesn’t have any off flavour, & nice chi. We chilled nicely with it

Today I’m Drinking Jasmine Black Pearls from David’s Tea. This is a nice tasting black. The jasmine is not overpowering. It is smooth without a taste of malt but it does have an underlying chocolate note.

Mr Ramiz handmade georgian black tea from what-cha. I eyeballed a lesser amount for 5 mins as per instructions but I didnt get the flavour others did so I need to investigate further. I did get such a very smooth cup of tea though. Not so heavy & malty.

Grabbed a chunk of Heicha from Chawangshop, tidied them away then forgot which one it was. But oh so fruity… its like the dried fruits in christmas cake. total nom

I am in actual Heicha heaven.

I think its a 2012 CNNP Hunan Hei Zhuan for like $3/g. its fruity & just slightly leaning into the dank side with that slightly sour tongue numbing running through it.

You mean $0.03/gm. At $3/g, you should be drinking some nice old pu-erh.

Oops yes I wanted to put cents & made a mistake.

I’m now officially a cheap tea date

Drinking an Arnold Palmer today. Brewed up a concentrate of White2Tea’s A&P, iced it, and then mixed with some iced lemonade. I imagine this might be better if you cold brewed the black tea in lemonade (probably diluted with water), but that would have involved planning ahead.

I’m not sure how I feel about the final result – it tastes like some sort of squash. Looks pretty though – Um, squash colored?
