I agree that we should use better pouches. My foil pouches hadn’t arrived yet, but I would use those in the future. Thick plastic/craft paper/foil pouches would probably cut down in cross-contamination of scents between teas kept together.

I passed the box off to VariaTEA tonight, so it’s in her capable hands. I didn’t think to put here what i did with things, but it’s in the book.

my comments from this round – ziplocks should be a no go unless it’s an unscented tea and you freezer bag it with like unscented teas.

consider how many ppl are actually particiating in the box – you don’t need to put in enough tea for every single person to have 2-3 cups. Enough tea for maybe 60% of the people to have a cup is probably sufficient. There were a few teas that had like 50g. that just limits the variety available.

With that said, I will say there is a lot of variety in here. So much so that the box may or may not have closed when I picked it up from Sil :P

Also, if there is anything in particular anyone wants, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate :)

So this weekend I was able to get through most of the box which means I will probably be sending it off to Evol Ving Ness tomorrow. It’s been a lot of fun and I got to try a lot of new teas so thank you everyone for that.

I sampled:

Lemon Meringue – Tealish
Yi Hong Mao Feng – Maison 3 Thes
Red-Tailed Hawk – Damn Fine Teas
Paris – Harney & Sons
Wild Orange Blossom – Teavana
Leatherbound – August Uncommon
Passage du Desir – August Uncommon
Caramel Macchito – London Tea Room
Raspberry Vanilla – Granville Island Tea Co.
Strawberry Rooibos – Granville Island Tea Co.
Peach and Passion Fruit – S Sens
and I will probably be sampling Mariage Freres’ Espirit de Noel and Fauchon’s Un Soir de Noel today.

Since we are nearing the end of the round, most of the teas are only one teaspoon samples left so I removed a fair bit of those and also attempted to sample teas and ended up accidentally finishing them because it turns out there was only one serving. So, I finished/removed:

Georgia Mr. Ramiz’s Hand-Made Black Tea – What-Cha
Genmai-matcha Matsujirushi – Steepster
Blood Orange – Zen Life Tea
Champagne Matcha – Red Leaf Tea
Iced Blueberry Green Tea Powder – Stash
Coconut Assam – Zhi Tea
Green Tea Bricks Rose – Cuppa T’
Pheonix Pearl – Zen Tea
Plum Berry – Sencha Tea
Pumpkin Houjicha – 52 Teas
Persia – Mighty Leaf
Thailand Sticky Rice “Khao Hom” Oolong – What-Cha
Holiday Blend – Mighty Leaf
Ginger Black – Capital Tea Ltd.

Finally, I added the following:

Original Sweet Tea – Southern Breeze
Raspberry Sweet Tea – Southern Breeze
Apple Strudel Pistachio – Cuppa T’
Smokey Butterscotch Peach – 52 Teas
Blackberry Maple Waffle – The Necessiteas
Lovin’ Lemon – TeaTaxi
Dracula’s Nightmare – TeaTaxi
The Marie Antoinette – Laduree
Sweet Jesus Blend – Lemon Lily
Assam Superb – Fortnum and Mason
Starry Nights – Eastern Shore Tea Co.
The de Noel – Nina’s Paris
Marie Antoinette – Nina’s Paris
Develishly Yours – TeaTaxi
Hong Yun – Butiki
Caramel Popcorn Matcha – Red Leaf Tea
Pinita Colada Carrot Cake – 52 Teas
Southern Belle – Tealish
Vanilla Comoro – Harney & Sons
Coconut Lime – Handmade Tea

There is still a bit of room in the box so let me know if there is anything anyone wants to try and I will do my best to accommodate.

The box was passed on to Evol today but not before I added samples of Charlotte Aux Fruits by Dammann Freres and Banana Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha by 52 Teas.

Thank you, VariaTEA! I am looking forward to trying those.

VariaTEA and brother of VariaTEA, thank you so much for adding the new little booklet to the box for the next round. I just noticed it today as I started sprucing up the box for the next go-round in May.

Haha you’re welcome. He saw I was writing on the last page and ran to get me a new book. I guess he just wanted to be involved in the wonders of a traveling tea box

Sounds like a sweetheart.

VariaTEA said

Haha I wouldn’t go that far. He just needs to get into everything

Hurray! The box has come full circle without any major mishaps. Thank you, Everyone. I hope it was fun and enlightening.

Thank you, VariaTEA, for your most joyous packaging. It brought a smile to my face when I found the box on the doorstep.

I’ve included no ziplock baggies in the GCTTB rules. Next step is having prospective participants doing an online quiz to make sure everyone understands the rules. :)

The next box is going out in May. I’ve posted a Great Canadian Travelling Tea Box Round Seven thread in Steepster discussions. Please consider signing up.
