In 2016, I became intimately familiar with green teas and oolongs. This year I plan to dabble in black and puerh teas and also explore herbals because I need more caffeine free options at night.

And I’m striving to keep my stash lean and mean. Less hoarding, drink down what I have before rushing to order.

If you find any interesting caffeine free otions, let us know. I do wish I could drink tea all evening long. I have found that Jiaogulan is a viable alternative. I brew this in my gaiwan gong-fu style and it just about satisfies my tea-moment cravings. I get it from Canton Tea, but it’s sold in a few places.

Bitterleaf Tea has a tea tree flower cake that I’ve heard good things about. You might want to try that out. It’s sweet, honey-like, and herbal.

edit* it’s out of stock now, but I heard murmurs that theyre restocking in the next week or so.

I have a sample of an herbal from Verdant that’s supposed to taste like green tea: http://verdanttea.com/teas/spring-wild-laoshan-gan-zao-ye-ziziphus-jujube-leaf-herbal-tea/

It’s gotten pretty good reviews here on Steepster. Excited to try it out tonight.

Teavivre and Teasenz have a pretty good selection of herbal teas. I’m curious to try their honeysuckle, myosotis, lotus leaf, and red dates teas.

Totem tea has some good herbals: https://www.totemtea.com/collections/floral. My favorite of those that I’ve tried is the kuwacha; kindof a umami slap in the face.

1. 100 sipdowns minimum: stretch goal of 200
2. Make this year’s puerh orders from new vendors. I’ve been in a rut.
3. Drink up all the non-puerh that is more than 2 years old, then restock on Black Friday.
4. Spend more time just drinking tea rather than drinking while reading, working, watching TV, etc.

Guilty as charged for me as well!

Drinking tea while reading is a double pleasure though. Two of my favourite things. Add a cat sitting beside me, an nice window with sun coming in , and it’s just perfect.

I love drinking tea while reading, too. It’s just such a serene way to spend an afternoon.
