Got my package today and will try one of them tomorrow. Have not decided which. Also, what was the unmarked free sample of tea. I am pretty sure it is puerh but I can’t tell any more than that by looking.
Oh hey everyone… I threw in some ripe puerh that sat in my rum barrel for awhile. This is something I will gift out and never sell so there’s no name for it : )

Drank two of the Nakas and your ripe sample as well. They ripe sample had quite the unique taste. How long did you age it in the rum barrel?
I got my parcel the other day. I saw that packet and thought “?” “Looks like some kind of shu.” Then I sniffed it and thought “What the actual fuck?”
I guess I should try it soon, before the booze aroma fades too much.
I don’t understand the whole rum flavoring thing. Seems like most rum drinkers I know drown the flavor with fruit or coke or something. Now if you had a scotch or cognac barrel, I might be more interested.

@ Dr Jim if you know of a way to get a used cognac or scotch brewing vessel… Please inform me! Rum was the only one other than wine I could get my hands on… and there’s no way I’m using a wine barrel :)
IDK about scotch or cognac, but I would think that bourbon should be doable with the right contacts. Bourbon has to be aged in new oak barrels or it’s not bourbon, and something has to be happening with all the used barrels…

The difference between the 2013 and 2016 is incredible. Never thought just a few years would develop a tea as quick as this one has.
Thanks for the reminder. I broke out the 2015 and am loving it. Two questions:
1) has anyone put these into Steepster yet? I couldn’t find them.
2) Are you thinking about a group order?
I think only the 2013 has a Steepster page. I reviewed the others under random steepings. I didn’t feel like going to the effort of creating pages.
The 2013 definitely has pick up some wet stone taste. I wonder how many rainy days in 3 years will do that.
Finally got to these. The storage was really nice and clean on this – Guangdong or Taiwan? I only had the 2013 so far, I’ll leave a review on the tasting page next time I try it. It has definitely aged pretty well in 4 years, a bit one dimensional but the presence in the mouth and throat was great.
