Tea and book pairing

Hello everyone. It has been a while since I have asked for help with this but I’m looking suggestions for tea to pair with the book Hater by David Moody https://www.amazon.com/Hater-David-Moody/dp/031260808X

Any suggestions from those who have read it or have ideas from just the description?

I haven’t read the book at all, but just from reading the description I have an idea that might work…

I was thinking Lapsang Souchong? I think picking a ‘red tea’/black tea would be appropriate as both those colours can be generally associated with violence/hate/general harshness but then on top of that the intensity of some Lapsang Souchong teas is an assault/attack on the palate which I think fits in line with the theme of the novel. Plus, the smell/taste of smoke is one that I think could be attributed to dystopian type society/a society in ruins. Think, I guess, the phrase “It’s all gone down in flames”?

Just a thought though.

Yeah, this is exactly the type of next level thinking that I’m looking for. Thank you! Before I post some of these pairing suggestions, I always like to think of what I would have in mind and then see the responses of how it resonates with other people. I love comparing how different minds think.

I enjoy that you made it work on multiple levels. Thanks for this. Do you have any Lapsang’s that you’ve tried that you feel like would fit nicely?

Well, right now I’m really enjoying Camellia Sinensis’ Lapsang Souchong but I think any one that’s heavily smoked would probably do the trick. I own one from What-Cha I haven’t tried yet but when I do I’ll let you know what I think of it, if you’d like.

Also just browsing here on Steepster it looks like Teavivre has a couple different options as well that have been generally well received. I haven’t tried any of them, but I’ve ordered from the company several times and have always have a positive experience going through them.
