Everyday Tea Ware

A 90-100ml (3-3.5 fl.oz.) gaiwan is perfect if you are brewing for yourself. You can go big on leaf (the way gongfu style is meant to be!) without feeling like you are using up too much of your tea at one sitting. Also, because of the small size, the output isn’t so great that you won’t be able to finish a session on your own for teas that brew out many infusions.

Also, a juice glass with straight sides is a great cup to use (brew in gaiwan, dump in glass.) Perfect size, cheap, and the straight walls help capture the aroma. A small brandy snifter or whiskey nosing glass is even better.

Beyond this, everything else is a fun toy to have. Despite having a couple different sized gaiwans (60, 90, 150ml) and a couple of awesome claywares, I still REALLY like my cheap 90ml porcelain gaiwan and my juice glass. Perfect size that yields great sessions.
