Anyone still order from Teavivre

Couple years ago I received teas from Teavivre. They were all good. I mainly received white and green teas.

I am not seeing a lot of discussions of this company.

Are you still ordering from Teavivre? What do you think of their teas?

YES! Teavivre has amazing customer service and teas. Every tea I try from Teavivre is delicious. They have magic green teas.

Thank you, years ago I really enjoyed their green teas. I was wondering why people don’t seem to mentioned them so much.

I have not had Teavivre in a long time. I ordered a sample pack a few years ago and except for the bi luo chun nothing else stood out. I might try some of their greens when their new 2017 teas come in.

Yep! I agree about the green teas. I anticipate their pre-Qing Ming teas every year. And I love their black tea offerings, especially the Dian Hongs.

I have never heard of pre-Qing Ming teas before. What is it?

Qing Ming/Qingming is a festival that occurs in early April, so any green teas harvested before the festival (around late march – it’s its own harvesting period, the first of the year) are known known as pre-Qingming teas. They taste sweeter and more delicate.

Ordered from them a few months ago and the package got lost in the mail (through no fault of the company). They sent me a new package and have been absolutely excellent in terms of customer service. I’ve also been blown away by their generosity in terms of samples. I recommend this company to everyone, because their customer service and blends/teas are fantastic and always very fresh.

Glad to hear that their customer service is still good. I really like their teas at the time.

Very good company, excellent teas, Im working my way slowly through the first order I got from them

Just be careful of one thing and this is no fault of theirs, the names of the tea are all in Chinese, which means its very easy to order a tea you already have… LOL.. I found out after I got it it, Lu shan yun wu is actually Clouds and Mists… now I have 2 orders ofthe same tea, luckily I really like clouds and mists!

This is funny, I would not have noticed. It was at least 2-3 years ago that I placed an order with them, and at the time I was satisfied. People seems to talk about other companies now on this site. That’s why I was asking.

Yep, Teavivre is an excellent vendor. What I like about them is the ability to purchase sampler packs of any of their teas. Great way to try lots of different teas without breaking the bank.

This is great because sometimes you don’t fall in love with a certain tea.

I think the lack of buzz is due to their relatively static product line. I place one order a year and it’s pretty much the same teas every year. I don’t bother with reviews, since I’ve reviewed them all and they are pretty much the same every year.

Helene said

I did not realize that. I was pleased with my order from them, couple years ago. I might have a look at ordering from them again this year.

I think Teavivre is an excellent source of tea and I generally order from them once or twice a year. They sell good puerhs but do not have a big selection like Yunnan Sourcing. I find they are an excellent source for black tea in particular.

Helene said

Thank you for your reply. I am not into puerhs yet. I haven’t tried them. I mainly drink green teas, occasionally white and black. But this year I want to try new things like puerhs. It’s just that I don’t know how to brew this tea and how to keep it.

AllanK said

Puerh tea is best brewed gongfu style or Asian style but I find ripe puerh does fairly well brewed Western style as well.I don’t think raw puerh does very well Western style at all. The basic concept of gongfu style is a very small gaiwan or pot not bigger than 150ml or so, a larger amount of leaves than you might expect, and starting with very short steeps.

Ken said

Yeah raw pu’erh done western is going to be super bitter.

Teavivre has very nice teas. I think that they must have the most consumer friendly online tea shop. I used to order a lot of my tea from them. At the moment I do order my tea from different shops, because over the past few years I have learnt exactly what the teas are that I am looking for and which shops tend to sell higher quality of specific teas.

Teavivre is a great shop with great teas. Although they do have somewhat steep prices (in my opinion), I’d still recommend the shop, especially to newcomers to Chinese teas. They have good quality tea and their website is easier to navigate than most shops.

Steep prices… dont teas us with the puns anymore.. please.. I might have to leave the board.

The time to buy from Teavivre is about twice a year when they run a sale. At Black Friday you can get some excellent prices on their teas.

I think their pricing is good. They have really good sales, and generous events giving away gift cards for holidays/anniversary events. Once in awhile they give bloggers good coupons for their readers to use too. Their shipping is very low, especially comparing to popular sellers based in China, making it a great option to do small orders.

I say they mostly do daily drinker quality, with a few higher quality teas (the non pareil ones)

Helene said

Thank you. I did buy from them years ago and will look for sales this year.

@Dxniel I am interested in knowing where you buy your tea from?

@Helene

www.jkteashop.com sells great teas at very agreeable prices. For example, the best green tea I ever had was from their shop costing me only like $2 for 50g (excluding shipping cost, which they calculate by weight). I bought 200g of good quality silver needle tea for about $14. High grade Tie guan yin 100g for about $10 (all excludes shipping, but still very cheap). They do also sell more expensive teas, like puerhs and wuyi. They sell very, very good Mi Lan Xiang (Honey, orchid aroma) tea. Their premium grade version is the best I ever had for the price. Their nonpareil grade Mi Lan Xiang is absolutely incredible (although this tea is quite pricey, and currently sold out) I feel like they are very selective with their teas.
But I must say, last week they seem to have updated their website. It looks different and many of the prices have risen. Also they remove their teas when they are sold out, so their selection will increase in maybe a month of so, after the tea new harvest. But many of their teas are still cheaper than a majority of other shops. And just about all their teas are great quality, even if they’re cheap (or at least, the loose leaf teas, don’t know about puerh).

www.yunnansourcing is also very good. They offer a vast selection of all kinds of teas, although they specialize in puerh. My first choice tends to be JK Tea Shop, but I often also go to Yunnan Sourcing as they have a greater selection of teas, very active customers leaving many reviews (so you know what to expect from the tea) and very good customer service.

www.wuyiorigin.com is a shop I recently came across. I now order my Wuyi teas from them. They are not simply a shop that sells tea, but they are actually tea farmers, they produce it themselves. The company consists of a family that has been growing, picking, roasting and selling tea for 4 generations. So they truly care about the quality of their tea. And their Wuyi tea is well priced, especially for the quality they provide. Most shops would sell Wuyi Origin’s quality of tea for 1.5-2x higher prices. Only very recently have they startred selling internationally.

But again, teavivre is a great shop as well, but their selection tends to be somewhat limited. They don’t sell Mi Lan Xiang (honey orchid) which is one of my favorite teas, their Da Hong Pao is kind of mediocre (but most shops sell mediocre Da Hong Pao). But the best Tie Guan Yin I ever had was from teavivre.

I really need to learn to be more concise…
