Learn abou tea in China

Hello! I happen to be travelling to China in April and would love to be able to learn about tea there. Does anyone know any course / classes in English that is possible to sign up? Unfortunately I only have two weeks, so I realise it is will be just getting the basics but someone needs to start somewhere. I live in Brazil where there aren’t such courses :/

The best course you’ll get is in the tea mountains. If you happen to come to Jingmai mountain in Yunnan, I’ll be happy to explain a couple of things about tea.

what are the prices of accomdation and options now around Jingmai? Ive heard about new luxury hotel for the Tu Hao. Im planning to go down the south in 2 weeks, but thinking of skipping Jingmai area to avoid busses with tourists a packed expencive hotels.

Prices on Jingmai are not cheap, but the standard is much higher than in other tea mountains. You can expect 200rmb for a guest house room. The expensive hotel is owned by Brilliant Company 柏联公司, it’s located at the foot of Jingmai Mountain.

Jingmai is really worth the visit, the number of tourists is still low, it should skyrocket in the next years with the construction of the new airport and the admission to the UNESCO World Heritage Site expected in 2019.

Our studio in central Kunming may or may not be open in April… depends on how much we hound the construction workers. If you’re in Kunming though, feel free to contact us and come around for tea.

The other thing is that we will be in and out of town collecting spring teas, but like I said, feel free to contact us and we can do our best to meet up.

If you are near these tea gardens you might look into tea in Brazil first, it could work as an introduction to brewing and such:

Related to learning about tea in China, that is a broad subject to do a lot with quickly. You might try checking out some introductory videos on this Youtube source. The information and perspective isn’t as clearly valid beyond beginner level introduction, since lots of people take lots of aspects of tea different ways, and input about how things really are or should be can be problematic, but it seems fine for a start:
