Favorite shou/ripe mini tuo?
What’s your favorite shou/ripe mini tuo that’s currently available?
Tuo cha are very handy when at work, traveling, or when one doesn’t have the time for gong fu.
Mini tou sampler pack from teavivre, 4 different mini tou’s 200 grams, 16$ you really cant beat it!
We’ve had this one before, which we enjoyed & I reviewed:
I used to drink a bunch of these with honeysuckle.
To date, all our shou has been unflavored. But honeysuckle sounds appealing. I didn’t k ow it was available. (Floral-flavored isn’t our thing.)
Does it have more of a honey or a floral flavor?
What’s the taste balance between the shou & honeysuckle?
It isn’t heavy on the note of the honeysuckle. I think it just takes the edge of the tea from the fermentation process.
…edge off the tea from the fermentation process. – Makes sense.
Their webpage lists Laocang Tea Factory, but doesn’t list the year of production.
This is the only one you need in order to enjoy lifelong happiness in your travels:
How does it compare with this one?
harvested in April 2007 in Simao, Pu’er, Yunnan, China
EU MRL Certified is definitely a major plus.
I would lean towards this one with all YS has done to meet standards and be transparent.
These are good too and I think free shipping through today. They are a bit larger at 20 grams.
Thanks mrmopar!! Am ordering the W2T tuocha now. I forgot they had these. Anything else I shouldn’t overlook that’s ready 2 enjoy now? Will also try YS tuocha.
Update: Paul said this shou has not been EU MRL tested and he didn’t have “specific info on the tea.” Thus, I chose not to place an order. (I need to be careful.) I greatly appreciate Paul’s honesty.
Oh great. I just received the Teavivre ones. The White2Tea ones I ordered a four days ago, and now I HAVE to get the YS ones. I don’t want to, I have more than enough tea to last me the rest of my life, but I have to. The timing of this thread couldnt have been better. Thanks for the info on the YS tuos.
And of course I ended up getting a kilo of them, and some oolongs for good measure.
You’re welcome. I’m glad the timimg of this thread increased you “teaddiction”. But please don’t call me an enabler. :-)
You’ll have to let us know how these three tuo shou cha compare.
I havent done a taste test yet enabler, uh pusher, I mean teaddiction increaser, but I just had the YS tuos for the first time. 2 of them (about 12 g) in a 150ml pot, and they are VERY nice. I have to stop thinking about it now before I go buy another kilo :D
Thanks for the update. It’s good to hear you enjoyed the YS tuos, especially since ours just arrived.
Has anyone tried this one?
Yes. One of my old comrades gave me one. They tasted like water from an aquarium full of dead turtles.
It is good to have old comrades to share tea. I think there is problem in translation since I mean to say the tea had “死乌龟风味” (Sǐ wūguī fēngwèi).
Also White2Tea has a new shou ball. I haven’t tried but it sounds like it is in this months club, so reviews should start pouring in soon. I’d link if my computer wasn’t being a POS.
Owl stuck in power supply, or have you attempted to share your tea with the keyboard again?
Love White2tea’s monthly club, its always.. interesting to say the least.
IM not a huge fan of the planet tea, they are bit big, and a bit expensive. I love crimson lotus cakes, but the planets are an odd size 8g and kinda pricey.
Thanks for recommending CL’s dragon balls. They sound wonderful.
Granted I am biased… but of the ones we offer these would be my top three:
Thanks Scott. How do these three compare? Which is the most full-bodied, rich, & creamy-smooth?
Thanks Scott. I have to try them all. If you say they’re in your top three I have to. Now I just have to decide how much and if to get the one that available from the U.S. site from there. Time to shop. :)
I guess I don’t have to make that decision after all. The one that is available on the U.S. site is the one I already bought a kilo of. I like that one a lot.
Guess I’m going to have a kilo of each in a month or three. Not to mention 25 dragon balls, and a cake that I think I already have coming, but don’t know for sure because my order history isnt on the new site. That’s fine though because it looks so good I wouldnt mind having two. :)
Awesome… I saw your order just roll in. Will add something really nice for you! Thank you!
All three are full-bodied and rich… creamy… I’d have to say the Haiwan one a little more in the cream dept.
When one is on the road w/o a gaiwan, what are the recommended Western brewing parameters for https://yunnansourcing.com/products/2013-yunnan-sourcing-premium-ripe-pu-erh-tea-mini-tuo?
Here are some additional choices (said the enabler :-). http://healthy-leaf.com/product-category/tea/pu-erh-tea/ripe-pu-erh/
Has anyone tried them?
I have! Obviously. Now I am biased in the matter, however our offerings are what we consider some of the better teas we have come across in China.
My personal recommendations are the Lan Cang teas, especially the 2003 one; smooth, rich and complex.
