yunnan sourcing shipping tips

I’m about to place my first order with yunnan sourcing and I’m wondering if anyone has advice on the many shipping options. If I don’t mind waiting for my purchase is the slow boat alright? Or should I use a faster method so in theory it’s less likely to pass through so many hands and be rough handled. Tea ware will be on the order and I know there is always tons of bubble wrap but I’m still worried if I use the cheapest shipping method something will get lost or broken. Like tea, is shipping something where you get what you pay for?

you pay for speed. a handler at the airport can drop kick your package just as well as a handler at the docks. YS always overkills with the bubble wrap so I wouldn’t worry about broken wares either way. If you are ordering something you want fresh, then perhaps air is worth the extra cost. If its wares and aged teas, extra time shouldn’t matter in regards to the tea.

I just imagined a handler drop kicking the box, classic. I agree with the (good) overkill of bubble wrap.

Bubble Wrap Overkill would be a great name for a band.

I would not use the ground shipping option with teaware, they specifically say on the website if you use ground shipping they will not replace teaware. Their packaging is top notch but shipping companies go out of their way to destroy packages (or so it seems)

The EMS shipping is expensive… but it consistently gets to Colorado USA 1 week after I order so I usually splurge and get the EMS shipping. I guess it all depends on how much you are willing to spend and how much of a risk you want to take with broken teaware.

I didn’t even notice that shipping and refund tab on their page. Thanks for pointing that out.

Actually I removed the clause about teawares and Surface just now. I have been using Surface alot to ship teawares to the US warehouse (yunnansourcing.us) and have not had problems since my staff in China pack so well nowadays.

Surface is slow and reliable… average to USA is 2 months… give or take a week.

I wonder which shipping option people normally use for 1 or many puer tong

Surface would save you a ton of money. For instance a 20kg parcel by Surface to the USA would be only $45.50 USD.

I can see the 20kg coming to me one day… All else aside the packing from both sites is superb.

I pray for the day when I can afford 20kg of tea in a single order.

Sal is surprisingly fast.

But by far and wide the best shipping option if you can keep your package small is epacket… its cheap and gets to the US at lightspeed.

YS USA offers free shipping for orders > $75. Fast too – My recent order was via Priority Mail 2-Day.

I make purchases at both sites but usually get my loose tea from the China site if I plan ahead and don’t run out.

Buying the tea in quantities of 100g or more lowers the overall price.

Like Ken I’ve found epacket economical and usually reaches me in two weeks.
