Online Purchasing recommendations

I’m fairly new toTea an have started to purchase Teas online.
Wandering if other folks have recommendations for a good online source that is reasonably priced.
Primary interests are Oolongs and Greens.
A Definite plus is small sample packs of all teas.

If you are looking for Chinese tea I recommend Yunnan Sourcing, if you are looking for Japanese I recommend Yunomi and I have recently bought Indian teas direct from Vahdam Teas and got some really good stuff. But above all I like Yunnan Sourcing better than any other tea supplier. They have two websites, www.yunnansourcing.com that ships from China and www.yunnansourcing.us that ships from Oregon.

Thanks Allan,
I’m familiar with Yunnan Sourcing though I haven’t ordered from them. I’ll check out their site again.

One good thins about Yunnan Sourcing is all their expensive teas are available in sample sizes generally 25g but in some cases 10g for really expensive teas. Some of their cheaper products you have to buy the whole puerh cake though.

Okay you have alot of choices, Yunnan sourcing is really good, great tea, great service, great prices and keep an eye here for sales. The bad news is a sampler pack from scott would be about 2000 teas…though he has a really good monthly club by tea type which might be more what you want.

Other good choices, Teavivre, great prices, fast service, excellent tea. Verdant tea, great oolong and pu’erh tea, usa based, so fast, free shipping. Vahdam I will also second as their tea is really good and their prices reasonable.

Yunomi is like wading in over your head during a tsunami.. there is probably great tea there at great prices, but trying to find it is difficult at best.

Taiwan tea crafts, great prices, great tea, if you want taiwan oolongs.

Taiwan Sourcing is also very good for Taiwan Oolongs. It is run by Scott at Yunnan Sourcing and a partner in Taiwan. I believe the website is www.taiwanoolongs.com.

White2tea can be added as well they have some decent Oolongs. The selection is smaller though. Don’t forget Mandala had some good stuff as well. Beautiful Taiwan has some stuff too. Also Chawang shop.

White2tea and Crimson lotus are pretty specialized into Pu, and he was looking for greens and oolongs, Beautiful Taiwan has a good Oolong selection as well.

Hi Ken,
Thanks so much.
On AllanK’s rec, I ordered from Yunnan Sourcing.
I think my next order will be with Verdant. I like their you tube vids and their shipping prices.

I recommend Verdant tea. Their greens are excellent and they have a good selection of oolongs too. Since you mentioned samplers, they have 5g sample sizes so you can try a bunch of teas inexpensively. Their 5-teas for $5 sampler (http://verdanttea.com/teas/5-for-5-tea-samples/) is a really sweet deal.

For Japanese green tea, check out Yunomi and Yuuki-Cha. Yuuki-Cha has a more curated selection while Yunomi’s selection is larger and you have the ability to buy samples.

And for oolongs, my go-to vendors are Beautiful Taiwan Tea Company and Taiwan Tea Crafts.

Thanks LuckyMe,
Much appreciated. Verdant Tea is definitely next on the list.

I do like Verdant Teas black teas in particular. I also remember their false claims on their puerhs. If you buy their puerhs be wary about the age of the trees when they claim 1000 year old tree and that sort of thing. There was a thread about them on here a while back I believe it was called Transparency in the Tea Industry.

There is a bit of a trend in the industry now to call anything that looks more like a tree than a bush an old tree.. lol..Their oolongs, greens, and especially their jasmine silver needle are very good, their blacks are good, and thier puerhs are fairly good.

I never meant to imply their puers weren’t good just to watch the age claims with them. I have had some of their puerhs and liked them.

I love Adagio and I think they are a very underrated. They have a very large selection and they also offer sample packs that are usually between $3-$5 for approximately 10 cups of tea.

AllanK, At least for the moment I won’t be buying Puerh..Fortunately that leaves (oops) me out of the controversy. Definitely good to know, though.

Its too bad the teiguanyin big red robe is out of stock.. its iron goddess tea, processed like big red robe tea, it was an experiment they did that hit on every level. very inexpensive, but tasted super high quality, if it comes back into stock grab it!.
