John Wagner and Sons tins

I just bought an assortment of old tea tins from a garage sale. The brand is John Wagner and Sons, and I have the flavors Formosa Oolong, Mint, Darjeeling, Spice (with orange), Ceylon Breakfast, Jasmine, and Pan Fired Green (which is still full!) Would anyone know when these were manufactured, or how to find out?

The “John Wagner and Sons” trademark was allowed to lapse in 1996 when the company was sold to Rose Spice Inc.

Seen here with their list of registered trademarks:

None persist into the 2000s.

Under Rose Spice Inc. they were re-branded as Wagner Gourmet Foods Inc:

^ New trademark filing in ’96.

Wagner Gourmet Foods was purchased by Williams Foods Inc. in 2000 and the trademark refiled under that name (see again above), and was still being sold under Wagner Gourmet Foods as of 2014.

Based on that, you can safely bet that they were manufactured prior to 1996, and could probably make a more educated guess based on the specific logos they used (when they were in circulation/trademarked)/tin design.

Thanks, I’ll take a look!
