What's your favorite tea blog?

I’ve been looking for answers lately and am interested in seeing how others connect with their tea. What are the tea blogs that really stand out to you?

I searched on here and most of the threads are pretty old with some of the blogs being gone so really looking forward to hearing some referrals from you guys.

My favorite is Steep Stories, about unusual teas, but also framed in story telling format. For reviews with some personal context I like My Thoughts Are Like Butterflies. Cwyn’s blog, Death by Tea, is interesting, both for depth of content and for a funny version of rambling on. Tea Addict’s Journal is good for insight but he can be a bit negative. I don’t think the Two Dog Tea Blog posts all that much but related to pu’er that’s great, written by the White 2 Tea vendor. Tea for Me Please is worth checking out for basic reviews and general background. For Japanese teas My Japanese Green Tea stands out. I can’t think of any particular reason to recommend Oolong Owl’s blog but it works well as a normal theme blog. And then there’s my own blog, Tea in the Ancient World, a favorite because I’m biased, I write it.

Er… is there something you specifically don’t like about it? Or was that a typo?

OolongOwl happens to be my favorite tea blog. That’s right, it’s my #1. So much so, that when I met her at the World Tea Expo I was afraid of being a creepy fan and tried to apologize in advance in case I turned creepy.

Thanks for the detailed info. OolongOwl’s material is well worth reading along with Cywn’s. The other stuff I haven’t read as much so can’t say

Yeah I was gonna say Oolong Owl’s blog is a great tea blog, and it’s been around for a long time!

I tend towards blogs that don’t focus on reviewing teas, but other things like tea science, economy, culture or history. I also tend towards blogs that only update once in a blue moon so I don’t feel swamped.

My reads are Teaconomics, teageek.net, Tea in the ancient world, Tea Guardian, World of Tea… I’ll skip lots of posts if they don’t interest me, though.

I follow a lot more than the above, but those are the ones whose posts I immediately pick out of a feed.

I keep my own blog, but it’s nothing to write home about.

Yeah, I’m trying to find more than just tea reviews because there is so much more to tea than simply reviews

AJ said

Yeah, there’s lots of great perspectives people take that I like to read about. Teaconomics particularly likes to focus on history and how tea’s effected the economy, since the writer has a history in marketing.

Some of the other bloggers have gone on to write books on the subject as well. I like to write about tea books (and where to find them), and history and science.

One of my favorites also. For puerh, I never miss travellingteapot, that is Wilson’s blog. Pure puerh porn, lol.

The main issue with puerh writers is many don’t post very often.

Tea DB is good stuff

I meant the others had primary themes I referenced but that one is a general, all around tea blog, mostly reviews and about tea related experiences.

Tea DB, Tea Geek, and World of Tea are nice for information, for going beyond typical review scope. It’s hard for me to read much of all the blogs that are interesting, so I just go in cycles with it. What people find interesting would vary. The Devotea is funny for being almost entirely rant posts, a good example related to that.

I like the idea of classic blogs, ones that have been around forever, and also reading old content. The Half Dipper is a good example of the former, maybe just not posted so often now.
