Help with brewed tea "turning" cloudy and bad tasting

I am new to the tea scene. I am trying to switch to tea instead of drinking soda. I like my soda, but am trying to switch to tea for my family.
I have a few teas that we combine and make in a large pot of water and then boil the water (about 8 quarts) and then after the water has cooled some, put the tea bags in.
We are trying to make this easy and convenient endeavor.
But, we don’t want to put the tea away when it is hot, and I don’t always get to it within the next 24 hours.
How long should I be able to leave tea out with out refrigerating? What would make it turn faster sometimes than other times (this last brew was less that 36 hours before it turned)
What is a good simple method for making a large amount of teas and then storing it? I drink about 3 quarts a day but don’t want to be a slave to the process.

These are not high end teas but I would think that they are OK. I know many people make sun tea, so I don’t think there should be a problem leaving tea out for a day.

Thanks!
Bruce

Tea last for about 2 hours un refrigerated. Then it starts to oxidize in the not good way. Also it picks up bad flavors. After brewing ice it, black tea especially is really good iced. But green and oolong do well too.

A nice ceylon, chilled with a tiny bit of sugar and lemon… wonderful!

Thank you Ken! I always thought it would last much longer!
What are some good teas that have Anise flavoring? I am looking for something that has some caffeine as well.

If left at room temperature bacteria will quickly begin growing in the tea. Leaving it out for more than 24 hours is asking to get sick. After you brew the tea if you are not going to drink it, refrigerate it and make iced tea out of it, or throw it out.

A pinch of baking soda in the tea , about one per gallon, will the the ph in line to keep the from getting cloudy and sour as easily. .
I will second the refrigeration especially since it is warm outside.
