Shameless plug here – if you’re interested in a artfully curated list of single origin, premium grade teas from India/Nepal, stop by our site and take a look (www.yatrateacompany.com). We’re a small (husband-wife) team based in Somerville, MA. We source direct from estates through childhood friends of mine whose families have multi-generational experience in tea production and export.

10% of our profits are donated to Induz (www.induz.org) to specifically support Project Kopou, an educational initiative in Assam, India that provides formal education and vocational training to children of tea estate workers.

We’re fairly new (operational since July) and are thrilled to be tea vendors in spite of all the ups and downs! Good luck in your search!

I’ll definitely check it out!

There’s lots of good vendors out there depending on what kind of tea you are looking for.

Reddit r/tea has a pretty good list of recommended vendors here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/tea/wiki/vendors/page_01

It’s a few years old though so it’s missing the newer vendors on the scene.

I’ve had a great experiences purchasing tea from Paul at White2Tea, as well as Bitterleaf Tea (both focus primarily on raw/ripe puh-erh tea.) I wish I was more familiar with flavored teas so I could help you find something you’d really like… If anything I would recommend trying some fruitier tasting unflavored oolongs from White2tea or The Cultured Cup.

I love and recommend Tea Trekker in North Hampton Mass for the very best in top shelf teas. Favorites include Everest Dark Heart, Assam Golden Mahseer, and Dragon Whiskers.
But I also need some “everyday” teas that fit my budget more, so I like Positively Tea’s Assam – this seems like a good value at ~ $18/lb. I recently got a very respectable Bi Lou Chun at an Asian store for $4.50 for a 12 oz tin.
