I think it would be a great way to encourage others to see beyond their culture and current experience perceptions! If they are offended by your warmth and passion for all people, then there is more than tea to discuss. Reflecting and being completely relative to each culture doesn’t require perfection, IMHO. “Perfection” is slightly subjective in the first place. I come from a very strong Cajun-creole upbringing and have developed the skill to cook traditional creole dishes quite well and find it VERY hard living in the Mid-west to have these dishes prepared exactly the way I think they should taste…however, I still find comfort in eating at places that fall short of “perfection” to traditional culinary and seasonings, but the bigger picture is I’m being reminded of the past and the fact that the food is “good enough” is triumphed from my reflecting on the memories and previous experiences of the culture. Not sure if this makes sense, or if I’m rambling again. My vote is to go for it! Follow Azzrian’s advise and seek council of others that can provide greater insight, but I believe it’s a win/win. Do it.

Thank you everyone for weighing in on the holiday blends. After considering everyone’s advice, I think I might do this but very cautiously and seek advice from experts.

New Tea Alert

Organic Japanese Puerh (This is the very first Japanese puerh we have ever found and this is the first Japanese puerh listed on Steepster)
Looking for something completely different? Then we highly recommend giving this puerh a try. Our Organic Japanese Puerh originates from the Isokawa region of the Shizuoka prefecture in Japan. This unique tea was invented fairly recently and is made artificially with an organic malted brown rice culture and a combination of first and second flush harvest tea leaves. The leaves are pan fired and fermented for 3-4 days. After that period, a small amount of fresh leaves are added for 2 days. The aroma of the liquor has roasted chestnut notes with a lingering sweetness. This puerh is a strong smooth tea with a drying sweet after taste and buttery quality. Strong notes of roasted chestnuts can be detected. Cacao, tabaco, and brown rice notes are also present with a hint of fruitiness. This tea is somewhat coffee-like but not nearly as strong.

Fukamushi Sencha Tenjo
Our Fukamushi Sencha Tenjo originates from the Kakegawa region of Shizuoka prefecture in Japan. Fukamushi is a deep steamed Sencha. The leaves are steamed for twice as long as a regular Sencha, as a result the leaves will be less uniform in appearance: however, the liquor is sweeter and brighter. The leaves of this rare, high grade of Fukamushi Sencha have been plucked around the 7th day of the first flush harvest. Tenjo is a full bodied sweet and juicy tea that is complex yet well balanced and brisk with a brilliant neon green liquor. Notes of sweet peas, steamed cauliflower, fresh grass, and macadamia nuts can be detected as well as light toasted notes. Oversteeping will result in a bitter brew.

Khongea Golden Tippy Assam
With citrus, oaky, clove, cinnamon, and raw cacao notes, Khongea Golden Tippy Assam is a smooth, rich, and malty tea with a pleasant astringency that lingers. This Assam is stronger than our Premium Taiwanese Assam and originates from the Khongea Estate in the Brahmputra river valley of the Assam region in India. This second flush tea utilizes the P126 Clonal plants that produce a large portion of golden tips and is graded TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe). The Khongea Estate is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, which focuses on sustainability and living and working conditions of those working at the tea estate. We recommend experimenting with the 4 and 5 minute brew time range for this tea. At 4 minutes the brew is less astringent yet still flavorful, however, this tea is more complex at the 5 minute range. While supplies last, we will be offering 1 free ounce of Khongea’s Assam Leaf (strong & malty Assam) with every 1 ounce purchase of our Khongea Golden Tippy Assam. Limit 3 ounces of free tea per order.

Sales Suggestions
We will be adding new sales to our website, probably at the end of the week. We would love to hear any suggestions you may have.

I would love to see a three pack offer on these! I want them all!

tperez said

Oh man, those do sound great! You guys always seem stock some really interesting teas :)

Azzrian-Thanks! We probably won’t put the Khongea Golden Tippy Assam on sale because we are already offering a free ounce of tea with a one ounce purchase, but I could definitely see putting the other 2 on sale. That’s a good possibility, especially for the Fukamushi Sencha Tenjo.

tperez-Thank you for the kind words! We do try to find teas that are unique.

Azzrian said

Ah true that! :) Makes sense.

Azzrian-So I’ve decided, these 2 are going on sale. Now I just need 2 flavored teas for the sale.

Azzrian said

Nice! I have a horrible memory or I would make suggestions for the flavored ones too.

Sil select said

Oh sure put the new one on sale after I pick it up grin

As far as flavoured ones go, you’ve had the best ones on sale recently if you ask me heh maple pecan…grapefruit…. Mmmmmm

Sil-Hahaha, well I was waiting until you ordered then I was going to put your favorite teas on sale. :P If the puerh sale turns out to be better than the other sale item you picked up, I could give you credit for next order. :) Hmmm, right now I’m thinking Mango Lassi & Pistachio Ice Cream unless anyone has any other suggestions. The Maple Pecan Oolong probably won’t go on sale until after we start our Winter Bundle Sampler since its in our Autumn Comfort Sampler.

Sil select said

I’m good on your flavoured for a bit, but mango lassi is nice, as is the raspberry chocolate truffle. I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t tried the istachio ice cream I picked up yet lol

Will it include a holiday collection, perhaps? ;)

Unfortunately, not yet. Looks like our Holiday collection won’t be out for a few weeks.

Here are my suggestions for the sale: I want to try the grapefruit and the watermelon. I know that you had these on sale recently too, but I’m actually planning on ordering some from you (I think I need to try the japanese puerh, I don’t know why, but I think I do), so, if you put these on sale, it will definitely give me the push I need in that direction. :)

Oh yes, and the maple pecan too. I want that one too.

Well, I did have the teas picked out and those were recent sales but I think I can switch one out for ya. So I’m thinking of putting Sil’s Grapefruit Dragon on sale. :) Yes, definitely try the Japanese Puerh. Its very interesting. I can’t seem to stop drinking it. Maple Pecan is pretty awesome too.

OK… well, if you put at least one of those on sale for me, then I can request the other two as samples, right? :) I promise I’ll write a review on them. LOL

Absolutely

Fukamushi Sencha Tenjo-31% Off
Our Fukamushi Sencha Tenjo originates from the Kakegawa region of Shizuoka prefecture in Japan. The producer of this tea has received an award for best manufacturer in a nationwide contest. “Tenjo” means “above the sky” in Japanese. This full bodied sweet and juicy tea is complex yet well balanced and brisk with a brilliant neon green liquor. Notes of sweet peas, steamed cauliflower, fresh grass, and macadamia nuts can be detected as well as light toasted notes.

Grapefruit Dragon-38% Off
Our Grapefruit Dragon has an Organic Dragon Well base that originates from Anhui, China. At the beginning of the sip, the grapefruit is almost immediately noticed then the mellow sweet marine notes of the green tea appear. Towards the end of the sip, more intense natural grapefruit notes produce a slight tartness that tingles the tongue. The grapefruit flavor most resembles pink grapefruit or perhaps a gentle white grapefruit. With a little brown crystal sugar the grapefruit flavor is much sweeter and juicier with only minimal tartness and somewhat resembles a Grapefruit Brulee but sweeter.

Pistachio Ice Cream has an Organic Mao Jian base with generous amounts of roasted pistachios and a dash of lotus stamens. The sweet roasted pistachio flavor is immediately noticed followed by prominent notes of heavy cream. Light notes of vanilla can also be distinguished. Add some sugar to turn this smooth full-bodied tea into a dessert treat that resembles pistachio ice cream.

Khongea Golden Tippy Assam-While supplies last, we will be offering 1 free ounce of Khongea’s Assam Leaf (strong & malty Assam) with every 1 ounce purchase of our Khongea Golden Tippy Assam.
