New Sales (Ends February 15th) http://www.butikiteas.com/On%20Sale.html:

Creamy Eggnog (Holiday Series: Christmas): 24% off ($4.50 1/2 oz)
Creamy Eggnog is part of our holiday series that encompasses a number of holidays from different religions. Many people might not think of eggnog as their number one choice for a Christmas flavor but Eggnog is particularly important in my family’s tradition of celebrating Christmas. Eggnog always marked the beginning of the Christmas season and was the last thing we would drink before we would try to go to sleep Christmas Eve. As a child, getting any sleep Christmas Eve would have been a miracle. There was always so much excitement and anticipation building. Creamy Eggnog pairs our buttery Organic Huangshan Mao Feng with a rich creamy eggnog flavor. The tea and flavor work well with each other and neither overshadows the other. This tea is sweet with a heavy cream and eggy quality. Add a little brown crystal sugar and the tea becomes extremely creamy, rich, and very much like eggnog. Some vanilla notes become pronounced and so do the egg notes. We added safflower for a touch of red for a festive Christmas colored tea.

Flowery Pineapple Oolong: 23% off ($5.00 1/2 oz)
This light delicate tea pairs our premium Wen Shan Bao Zhong with a light pineapple flavor. The buttery and orchid notes of the oolong as well as its light body marry well with the pineapple flavor for a well-balanced soft tea. Without sugar this oolong has a wonderful light natural flavor but add a little brown crystal sugar for a stronger yet still natural pineapple flavor.

Fukamushi Sencha Tenjo: 31% off ($9.25 an ounce)
Our Fukamushi Sencha Tenjo originates from the Kakegawa region of Shizuoka prefecture in Japan. Fukamushi is a deep steamed Sencha. The leaves are steamed for twice as long as a regular Sencha, as a result the leaves will be less uniform in appearance: however, the liquor is sweeter and brighter. The leaves of this rare, high grade of Fukamushi Sencha have been plucked around the 7th day of the first flush harvest. The producer of this tea has received an award for best manufacturer in a nationwide contest. “Tenjo” means “above the sky” in Japanese. This full bodied sweet and juicy tea is complex yet well balanced and brisk with a brilliant neon green liquor. Notes of sweet peas, steamed cauliflower, fresh grass, and macadamia nuts can be detected as well as light toasted notes.

Gui Fei Oolong: 32% off ($4.25 an ounce)
Our Gui Fei Oolong was sourced from Lugu Township in Nantou County, Taiwan and is a particularly unique tea. Green leafhoppers are allowed to bite the tea leaves which causes the leaves to begin the healing process which creates the honey notes in this tea and also begins the oxidation process. This tea utilized traditional Dong Ding processing techniques. Gui Fei Oolong has a natural sweetness to it and produces no astringency. Notes of honey, lightly burned toast, raw almonds and apples can be detected.

New Teas
We will have the following teas available in the next several days:

Da Yu Ling Oolong: Light, sweet, refreshing. Fresh orchid and Bosc pear notes with some light spearmint notes that linger. This is a premium tea.

Upgraded Premium Taiwanese Assam: Bold, malty, incredibly smooth and silky. Baked bread and raw cacao notes with citrus and sweet tobacco notes with a a fruity finish.

Taiwanese Wild Mountain Black: Strong honey aroma. Similar to our Mi Xian and our Gui Fei the leafhoppers are allowed to eat the leaves which causes the leaves healing process and gives the tea a honey flavor. Notes of fresh baked bread and honey that linger. Smooth, full-bodied, juicy. Some raisin and caramel notes.

Grandpa’s Anytime Tea: Malty, strong, bold. With baked bread, burned chocoalte, oak, banana notes with a citrus finish.

oh man… and shipping to canada is lowered today to over 50$ right?

Kittenna said

I think that was only until last night :(

That was until last night but I can keep that offer as long as I can get an order out by Saturday since rates go up Sunday.

Sil select said

no no, don’t want to be rushing you to do that sort of thing. Weekend are for FUN! It’s not like the increase will stop me from ordering from you :) I’m still totally sick and a bit out of it so i was more just checking.

Weekends, what are those? I kid. This weekend I work all Friday night and Saturday morning but have a fun filled Saturday night and Sunday planned out. I hope you feel better soon.

Well, for any Canadian customer we can still do the shipping offer but we need to be able to get the order out by Saturday.

I would suggest Potato Pancakes and Applesauce since they have been reviewed a lot lately and a new review is coming on the 18th.

Great idea. We will add that one.

Azzrian said

Sweet! Its a GREAT one but then they all are.

Dinosara said

Not sure if there is a restriction on what you will put on sale, but here’s what I’d love to see on sale (mostly because I want to try them, so a sale would tempt me to put in an order): Premium Taiwanese Assam, Organic Sparrow Tongue, Mi Xian Black

Kittenna said

I second the Premium Taiwanese Assam, please! I told myself that I don’t get to repurchase it until I finish more teas, but I’m sure there’s a caveat about sales in there somewhere… :P

Sil select said

i think only green oolongs should go on sale..or white teas. yep. give those a chance…

Dinosara & Kittena-The Premium Taiwanese Assam is a tough one. Since we have the upgrade version too and it is our number 1 seller but customers tend to order it in 2 or 4 ounce sizes. I’ll have to think how to do that one. I will check to see if we have put the Organic Sparrow Tongue on sale recently, if we have then we will go with the Da Yu Ling Oolong if not than I will put that one up. Looks like we have one flavored tea left in the white category. So, I’m thinking the final tea will be Pineapple Cilantro Cream. Looks like we’ve got our sales teas.

Sil-Hahahaha. Trying not to buy I see.

Also, wanted to mention that we have about 2 ounces of the Taiwanese Wild Mountain Black left!!!! That’s it. If you want this tea before the next July/August harvest then reserve some now because I doubt it will last past this weekend.

Sil select said

I saw that stacy…very tempted. VERY

Sil-I am surprised how fast that tea went. Really wish I had picked up more of it when I had the chance. Lesson learned. That’s 2 teas I’ve done that with.

Azzrian said

That Pineapple Cilantro Cream is THE BOMB! LOVE it!

Azzrian-Glad you love it! I’m a big fan of that one. Before I even know it, the cup is usually gone.

New Sales (Ends April 5th):

Da Yu Ling Oolong-22% Off
Our exceptional Da Yu Ling originates from the mountain where the Nantou, Thaizhong, and Hualien counties intersect in Central Taiwan at an elevation of approximately 8,500 feet. Da Yu Ling Oolong utilizes the Ching Xin (Tender Heart) varietal and is oxidized between 15-25%. This first flush winter harvest tea is remarkably sweet, buttery, and refreshing. Incredibly fresh orchid and lilac notes mingle with Bosc pear and spinach notes followed by light spearmint notes that linger. Subsequent steepings are a little more vegetal. When following gongfu methods, the second and third infusions are the best but will produce about six quality infusions.

Pineapple Cilantro Cream-31% off
Our Pineapple Cilantro Cream pairs our high quality Organic Bai Mu Dan with a delicate pineapple flavor and rich creaminess that finishes with fresh cilantro notes. This full bodied tea is gentle and refreshing and has an intoxicatingly sweet pineapple aroma. We recommend drinking this tea at a warmer temperature to maximize the flavors.

Potato Pancakes & Applesauce (Holiday Series: Hanukkah)-20% off
Our Potato Pancakes & Applesauce tea pairs our buttery Organic Huangshan Mao Feng with generous potato pieces and crisp apple chips. Plain, this tea is thick with potato notes up front followed by apple and cinnamon notes with some buttery notes that peak through at the end. As the tea is repeatedly sipped the buttery quality will become more apparent. The weighty body adds to both the potato and applesauce feel.

Premium Taiwanese Assam-26% off
Our Premium Taiwanese Assam is sourced from Yuchih Township in Nantou County, Taiwan. Assam bushes were brought to Taiwan in the early twentieth century but have since been refined by the Taiwan Research and Extension Station. The long dark chocolate-colored leaves produce a sweet fruity aroma. This malty tea has rich chocolate notes with notes of cinnamon, clove, and raisins. Also available is our Premium Taiwanese Assam Upgrade which is a higher graded tea from a different tea farm. The Premium Taiwanese Assam Upgrade is very smooth and incredibly silky with baked bread, raw cacao, sweet tobacco, and citrus notes. Fruity notes linger and leave a pleasant astringency.

… Wow, I JUST bought two of those too. xD; Oh well, they were worth full price, but still. xD

Oh bummer. Since you didn’t get any sale items last order, if you want to purchase those 2 items in the future, let me know and I will give a sale price for them.

Chizakura said

Thankyou for the offer, but that’s not neccesary :) I wasn’t expecting anything when I said that, I was just talking, hehe. Besides more than likely I’ll be purchasing more Taiwanese Assam before the sale ends anyway.

Chizakura-I know you weren’t looking for anything. I just hate it when I just miss a sale, so I thought it might be nice to offer something. :)

I’m tempted to be all like MI XIAN BLACK, but I know there’s no way that’s possible for a special tea like that. It’s all kinds of delicious, too~

I would be happy to see some sort of black on the next sale though! I love me black teas.

There will definitely be a black tea on sale. Unfortunately, we can’t do the Mi Xian this time around since we are running low and won’t be receiving more until next month but we will definitely put the Mi Xian on sale at some point. :)

Chizakura said

Really!? That’s awesome! :D When that happens, I’ll be sure to buy a bunch up~

Absolutely, we have received a lot of requests for that tea. Actually, I just checked on the Mi Xian and it looks like we should be receiving it next week. Hmmm, maybe this will go on sale this time.

Sil select said

i think lots of tasty tasty green oolongs should go on sale next. and maybe some very delicious white teas. snicker

Sil-Hahaha. I’m sure there will be a delicious oolong or white tea on sale.

Sil select said

Selfishly, I want The Killer’s Vanilla on sale.

We haven’t had a guayusa on sale in a while, so I think we can make that happen.

Oh, then I’ll have to get my shit together and place an order. Hah! That would be entirely too hard to resist.

I only have enough in my tin right now for one more cup. Sigh.

New Sales (Ends April 30th):

The Killer’s Vanilla-26% off
Don’t let the name fool you, this guayusa is subtle and calming but it is deceptive in its high caffeine content which creates a relaxed yet alert feeling. Lavender, mint, and vanilla are well balanced and come together for a light and earthy treat. Add a little sugar and the flavors come to life. The creamy vanilla, gentle mint, and relaxing lavender mingle and fight for attention but ultimately the vanilla is the strongest. This guayusa was inspired by a song that we adore, The Killer’s Vanilla by Amon Tobin, one of our favorite artists to listen to while blending tea.

Mi Xian Black-28% off
Our Mi Xian Black tea is sourced from Ali Shan region in Taiwan. This exquisite premium grade tea utilizes the Chin Xin varietal and is pesticide free. Mi Xian Black is a relatively new style of black tea and is very rare. Similar to our Gui Fei Oolong, leafhoppers are allowed to bite the leaves in order initiate the plant’s healing process which produces a honey-like aroma. Juicy peach and honey notes mingle and linger. Some lychee and mild citrus notes can also be detected. This smooth and mellow tea is sweet with a creamy mouth-feel.

Pistachio Ice Cream-21% off
Pistachio Ice Cream has an Organic Mao Jian base with generous amounts of roasted pistachios and a dash of lotus stamens. The sweet roasted pistachio flavor is immediately noticed followed by prominent notes of heavy cream. Light notes of vanilla can also be distinguished. Add some sugar to turn this smooth full-bodied tea into a dessert treat that resembles pistachio ice cream.

New Teas, since our last sale:

Hattialli Golden Lion Assam-Hattialli Golden Lion Assam!!! Our Hattialli Golden Lion Assam originates from the Hattialli Tea Estate in the Dibrugarh District in the South Bank, Assam region of India. The name Hattialli comes from the words “Hatti Alli”, which means Elephant Road. This name came about because of a nearby elephant camp. The Hattialli Tea Estate is known for golden tippy handpicked teas and the balance of briskness and mellowness of their teas. The golden tips of this tea are longer than the black leaves, which imparts a more golden appearance. This phenomenal malty second flush Assam has baked bread and oak notes. Sweet potato and dried apricot notes are also detectable with fleeting lighter floral notes. There is a fruity sweetness and light astringency present in this truly exceptional second flush Assam. Check it out: http://www.butikiteas.com/Black.html

Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Teat-Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat utilizes our Congou Keemun as the base which provides an interesting contrast with the sweet banana flavor. We also added a touch of walnut which melds nicely with base without overpowering the banana flavor. One of our customers, Foxy Roxy, contacted us to suggest a banana Keemun blend. Since we were already working on a banana tea, we decided to test it out and we were quite surprised by the deliciousness of this combination. Check it out: http://www.butikiteas.com/Black.html

Caramel Vanilla Assam-Caramel Vanilla Assam pairs our Premium Taiwanese Assam with rich caramel and soft vanilla. The caramel and vanilla notes meld with the tea and almost taste as though they are naturally part of the Assam. Cacao, raisin, and citrus notes can also be detected in this smooth and malty tea. Add a little sugar for a decadent caramel vanilla dessert. Check it out: http://www.butikiteas.com/Black.html

Peppermint Patty-What better way to wind down the day than with chocolate and mint? Our Peppermint Patty pairs organic marshmallow leaf, a naturally sweet caffeine-free herb, with sweet organic peppermint, and mellow milk chocolate. This light and refreshing herbal works well as an after dinner treat. With each sip, the flavor grows stronger and lingers longer. Add a little sugar to intensify the chocolate flavor. http://www.butikiteas.com/Herbal.html

1991 Da Ye Aged Oolong-Our 1991 Da Ye Aged Oolong is a 22 year old spring harvested tea from Nantou, Taiwan. This rare tea is oxidized between 20-30% and charcoal roasted. Da Ye Oolong is uncommon today since this tea has a lower production volume. Our 1991 Da Ye Aged Oolong is sweeter and creamier than our 2003 Reserve Four Season Oolong. Notes of roasted chestnut, bark, fresh butter, honey suckle, and cinnamon can be detected. Due to the age of this tea, some mineral notes may also be detected. This tea has a silky mouth feel and is sweet and buttery. Check it out: http://www.butikiteas.com/Oolong.html

Also, our Dragon Feelers are now back in stock!!! http://www.butikiteas.com/Green.html

Castleton Darjeeling 2nd Flush
2013 Giddapahar SFTGFOP1
2013 Thurbo SFTGFOP1
Also, we will be adding a Darjeeling sampler to our site that will include tea from 4 different estates.

Licorice Chai? drool And the name is priceless! :-)

Thanks, the hubby and I brainstormed on that one. I’m a big Douglas Adams fan. I’m glad you can tell where its from. I wasn’t sure if many people would be able to figure it out. This was a custom blend done by a Steepster member. I thought it would be tasty but it is way beyond my expectations.

Well I’m eagerly looking forward to that one coming out! I’m a BIG licorice fan.

Think I’ll be making my first Butiki order come payday!

Anyanka said

In keeping with the HHGTTG theme, you could make a tisane named: almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.

What kind of base does the strawberry rhubarb have? Gotta decide if I want that one and therefore will wait to order some peppermint patty when it becomes available or not ;)

Fuzzy_Peachkin-Glad to hear that!

Anyakna-Hahaha, that is a good one. :)

Stephanie-The base is our Khongea Golden Tippy Assam .

Wow! So excited for the Darjeeling sampler coming up! I’ve been wanting to give Darjeeling teas a go for the first time for a little while now but had no idea where to begin. This’ll solve that problem! :D

Chizakura-Glad to hear you are excited for the Darjeeling Sampler. We hope to have that up next week. :)

Awesome sale, got the Pistachio and the Killers Vanilla. I’d get the black tea but I’ve got so much base black tea I’ll never use it up.

Fantastic! You could always request that Mi Xian as a free sample if you wanted to try it. It’s a very different kind of black tea. :)

I replied to your message about the free samples, but I didn’t put flavors because I wasn’t entirely certain it wasn’t automated.

I’d actually love to try the cantelope and the lychee if you can catch the box before it leaves. :)

My husband is probably going to kill me because I just ordered a bunch more tea, i’ve been wanting to do another Butiki order to try some of the delicious straight teas, (the samples I’ve received in swaps have been kind of mindblowing) this sale seemed like a good excuse. Now how to hide the box when it comes in…. ugh! i should start getting tea shipped to me at work instead, hahaha.

Sil select said

just uh tell him one of your uh tea friends bought it for you sa a surprise! ;)

Glad to hear that you have been enjoying some of our straight teas! :)

Or you could say something like, “I don’t understand why all these tea companies keep sending me these free samples!”

Hahah that’s a good one! He’s pretty dubious in general though. And already too well aware of my tea addiction
