Turkish Tea Brewing--does it have to be done the authentic way ?

OK, this is an honest question so please don’t take it with any disrespect.

My wife likes Turkish tea. We’ve had it at many authentic Turkish restaurants. She was thinking about brewing it at home and looked at some videos and read about it. It seems like a long process requiring some additional equiptment (essentially a double boiler).

My question is this:

If you buy good, authentic turkish tea and just brew it like regular tea will it taste that much different than if brewed in the traditional way ?

Looking at Turkish Teapots on EBay it would seem they are all made of copper. While I don’t think that the double boiler would have a large effect, the mat6erial the teapot is made from will have some effect, I cannot say how much. I have never brewed out of a copper teapot so I don’t know how different the taste is from for instance, cast iron. In the end I suspect the difference will be minor. But mind you this is just an educated guess.

I imagine there will be some difference. Regular black tea is steeped in hot water for about 5 minutes. Turkish tea is simmered for a longer time, like 15 minutes or so.

You can still make it without the double boiler though. A teapot that fits above a pot of boiling water could simulate it. You could also place a pot above a teapot warmer.
