Breville One Touch Tea Maker~

So I got this baby a year ago and I have been cleaning it regularly.
Everyday I make tea so I clean it about every other week. I get the kettle clean, but my problem is the basket.
I’ve tried with soapy water and i know it’s dishwasher safe, but I’m having hard time with certain stains with it. Gah!!!!

That stuff is the bomb!

As far as home remedies, you could try soaking it in baking soda and water and then scrubbing it with baking soda and a damp paper towel.

@mrmopar- Interesting!! I’ll check that out!

@tperez- I’ll give the baking soda a shot! I’m assuming hot water?

Mandfala Smart Soak works on just about everything but Yixing and similar clay pots. Basically works on glass, plastic, porcelain, metal, and anything with a glaze.

Also, try the stuff that Breville has for it: https://www.amazon.com/Breville-BTM100-Organic-Cleaner-BTM800XL/dp/B00DJ6IF90/

This stuff works very well!

I have one packet. I don’t want to use it till I have to.
Going to buy more after Christmas.

Mine is quite old — I got it right when the first model came out, I think. I have a stain problem on the basket as well, but I haven’t really bothered to try to get the stains off. I figured they’re just a mark of use. Do I need to get them off?

I like my stuff clean. It’s perfectly okay to have the stains on if you wish!

I use a mr clean magic eraser. It works incredibly well for both the kettle and the basket.

I don’t know if I’d recommend that – the magic eraser is made of melamine and it may leave traces of that in your kettle/basket.

Ooh, I did not know that. I’ll stop using it.

I’ve been using baking soda and lemon juice and a cheap tooth brush(bought and used just for cleaning the basket).

Sprinkle the baking soda on the basket and squeeze a little bit of lemon into the kettle with some water. I usually put it on boiling and to steep for 10 minutes. It brushes right off!

I’ll give that a try!

A paste of baking soda and water works great on glass. Denture tablets are also effective at removing stains.

Do a citric acid/sodium bicarbonate soak! Works like a charm and is harmless.

I saw a video and going to give that a try!!

Baking soda and/or white vinegar!

Baking soda and vinegar is like an expensive miracle product.

Ha ha ! Yes! I use that combo to clean my oven and it even cleaned my new, white, carpet when the kitchen drain pipe broke and spilled decades old sludge! (Even resolve didn’t work)

That’s pretty amazing (that it cleaned your carpet, not the breaking stuff).

I fill the water to the highest level and add baking soda, boil the water and then let it sit overnight. In the morning all the stains wipe off easily. No vinegar is necessary.
