2018: How much will you spend on tea this year?

Ignorance is bliss sometimes. I’m sure 2017 was around 1k. I will try to keep better track and sip down what I have for 2018.

A LOT less than 2017! LOL!

I went a little crazy and have a ton of tea to drink up before I buy anymore.

I’ve never kept track, and frankly last year I spent too much and combined with the amount I spent on yarn, yikes. YIKES. so, I’m hoping to at most spend $400 for 2018. there are a few things that I ordered at the end of December that I got this month….buuut, since I technically paid for them in December, I’ll just count those as stuff bought in 2017.

January: $30

Considering I spent around $2000 last year at Teavana before they closed down, I will be spending no more than $1200 this year including teaware costs.

January- $3, and $11 of store credit.

Only restarted with teas last year so for 2017 it was.

I’m getting back into tea but although I gave away a ton of tea (not quite literal but it was 4 entire giant tubs of tea)I still have a cupboard full, all if it aging ungracefully so I’d like to make a dent in that before buying anything new, no matter how tempting some of your tasting notes make them.

Budget for 2018 (tea only) – $50

Teaware is another story entirely since I collect antique teapots. If they’re more than 150 years old, they can get pricey if they’re in good condition.

So, ahaha, yeah. That budget.

3/10/18 – A Quarter To Tea – $10.10
3/12/18 – David’s Tea – $58.25
3/23/18 – Queen Mary’s Tea Emporium – $104.08 (includes a $70 teapot)

Running total: $172.43
(Does not include the Afternoon Tea I did at the Queen Mary Tea Room with a friend on 3/23 as well).

So far this year it does not look like last year. I don’t even want to think about what I spent last year. So far this year I have made more money from one good EBay customer than I have spent on tea. I have not actually ordered puerh tea yet this year I don’t think. I have made a couple of trips to local tea shops.

So far, only a TTC and Floating Leaves order in January and redeemed my Verdant tea cash this month. Quite content to sip down my stash as I’ve got more than enough oolongs, greens, and blacks to last me until the spring harvest. Also have given away many teas that I wasn’t into to further pare down my collection.

Shockingly, no teaware purchases either. Not that I haven’t been tempted but constantly remind myself that I don’t need any more teaware.

Have spent well over $10k on tea so far this year… but we’re a vendor, so I guess it isn’t the same :-P
