Glass steepsters

Does anyone know where to get glass tea steepers like the Teavana perfect steeper?

I have the old plastic one, but it’s getting cracks. Not leaking or anything just spider web like cracks. I want a glass one, but don’t know where to look!!

There are tons of similar ones on AliExpress. If you want a good brand, Kamjove is a top one (I don’t use those “perfect tea makers” contraptions, but Kamjove is a quality brand).

I might buy a kamjove. I’ll do research.

That looks identical to the Teavana one but much more expensive. I believe the Teavana one sold for $34.99 or so.

If you have a Teavana store still open near you they may still have some

Mine is doing the same. :/ Teavana had one made of glass, but looking at the reviews on Amazon, it wasn’t entirely made out of glass and has plastic parts that the hot water comes into contact with when steeping. From what I can see, all the gravity steepers that are glass have plastic in and around the mesh filter. Are you looking for something plastic free or is some plastic acceptable? You might have to search for a different design if you are going plastic free.

I was bummed when I found out about that.

Any suggestions for plastic free ones?

Yeah the Teavana one has a plastic bottom and a plastic top piece. The middle portion is a glass cylinder. I went to my local Teavana store hoping they would have some left but they were sold out. Everything there was 50% off and they still had a lot. I am told that the stores that went down to 75% off had virtually nothing left to buy.

The best option for something all glass is to find a right sized glass tea pot with a glass steeper basket. Something like the Kamjove is nice but is also not all glass, the steeper basket is plastic on a Kamjove.

I’m under the impression that all gravity steepers have some plastic that the tea comes in contact with. To avoid plastic, you would have to look for a different style device.

There are all glass teapots with glass strainers like this:

There are glass pots with metal strainers:

I have switched to the David’s Nordic mugs that have an all metal steeper insert and have been pretty happy with them. My gravity steeper rarely sees any use these days.

I might just get a Nordic mug cause everyone has those. I do have a Breville one touch tea maker, but I’m lazy and getting tired of cleaning it every so often.

To clarify, if this is an issue, the one I use (see my post below) has a glass jar and a metal-and-ceramic steeper, with no plastic. I assume the same is true for the larger size.

Those Breville one touch makers do look pretty fancy and awesome, but I’ve always suspected the clean up issue. I opted for the simpler Breville kettle without the robot tea making part and have been pretty happy with that.

Chris Thanks for the input! i’ll check It out.

Dustin~ Yeah they are. When I’m done making tea I let the jug cool and then rinse the jug and dry it. The basket is a tricky imo. It has tea stains along the bottom and outside edges. I like my stuff clean so I tried everything to clean it, but haven’t gotten the stains out. Ima buy citric acid to clean it.

Try Smart Soak from Mandala Tea to clean it. Works wonders.

Allan~ I’ll get it soon hopefully.

There is an old thread that just got revived about cleaning tea ware. Equal parts peroxide and baking soda was one of the recommendations. I’m going to try it!

Dustin~ Dude I just saw that! Going to try it tomorrow!!

I got this one from Verdant Tea:

I use it instead of a gaiwan for gongfu. Looks like it’s out of stock right now, but the larger size is there, which might be better for English-style brewing anyway if that’s what you’re looking for.

That is a Kamjove. The inner steeper basket is plastic, food grade so they say. I have a couple of similar Kamjove models. All of them have plastic steeper baskets and glass jugs outside.

And 900ml is the size of the outer jug, the steeping basket is more like 300ml or so give or take 25ml.
