One of the reasons I drink tea is that it doesn’t keep me awake at night the way coffee does. This is especially true of puerh; I won’t drink other teas after dinner.
If you are trying to stay awake all night and you want caffeine for it you don’t want tea because it is the lowest in caffeine of the caffeinated beverages. While staying up all night is not recommended I would try coffee or even something like five hour energy. Me I stop drinking tea early because I do want to sleep.
For me it depends on the type of tea. I can definitely feel the caffeine from black tea and Chinese greens. But Japanese green tea with the exception of matcha and some oolongs don’t interfere with my sleep.
For me it doesn’t make any big difference. I mean I am a bit more lively after getting through 3 Pu sessions but I could sleep always at any time. I think I was born sleepy XD hahaha!
L-Theanine can often overpower the caffiene. If I need a wake up buzz, I will reach for the matcha or yerba mate.
Neither coffee or tea could keep me awake. I used to think that my parents started giving me coffee when I was like 6 years old. Probably caffeine doesn’t work for me anymore.
If I’m trying to stay up I make tea. If I usually have caffeine in my body for a few days and it’s used to it. I drink water for a whole day to get rid of it then I make tea to keep me up. I usually have a heabal tea or something low with caffeine at night.
I can drink tea right up until I go to sleep. Often, if my body is tired, tea will make me drowsy and actually help me fall asleep. Strange things.
As a rule I avoid drinking tea in the evening hours, although tea doesn’t overstimulate me like coffee does. Basically I am feeling relaxed yet aware (guess its l-theanine)after hot cuppa. I found that green teas in general give me stronger kick than black ones. Its kinda odd because it is believed that black tea has the highest caffeine ammount followed by green tea.
