Iranian Tea

A few years ago I was lucky enough to have a colleague who was from Iran and grew up on a tea estate there. She very kindly gifted me some tea from the estate which I really enjoyed. It reminded me a bit of some sweet caramel malty style teas from China. It also had the added benefit that it seemed impossible to brew wrong!
Sadly it has been a few years since I finished the tea but despite keeping an eye out I haven’t seen anywhere stocking teas from Iran. Does anyone know of a good way to get hold of tea from Iran or if not does anyone have any experiences of Iranian tea?

Thanks Gitana, the tea looks similar to the one that I had a few years ago may have to bookmark it and order at some point!

Have you ever tried authentic Turkish tea from Rize? If not I strongly recommend you, because both of them seem to have very similar tasting profile. And Turkish tea is easier to find. Try to look for some little, middle eastern shops. They should have teas like that. Iranian tea is very smooth, it is unlikely to make it too strong. It has got sweet malty notes with some dusty, old wine notes in the background.

Hi Stanislaw, I Haven’t tried any Turkish tea at all but should keep my eye out when I am next in town for a middle eastern shop that may sell it. It sounds remarkably similar to the Iranian tea that I had before.
