The best Earl Grey loose-leaf tea brand
Help me decide. Give some examples please.
I have Harney & Sons EG and EG Superior samples being shipped this week. They are new to me.

Adagio has a few decent Earl Grey versions as well.
I read about Harney & Sons. People said it is superior tasting Earl Grey. Unfortunately my country does not import any product from this brand.
What tea brands are available to you? That will affect recommendations!
If you can get Twinings Earl Grey it is a well respected brand and is quite highly rated. For many people Twinings is the taste they use to judge all other Earl Grey teas.
“The best” is more difficult because everyone likes something different.
One good quality tea that might be available to you is Tayors of Harrogate. They are a U.K. brand and are probably everywhere in Europe. Their Earl Grey is very smooth and a little floral in flavor.
Ahmad is another brand you might have available. They use a different tea base than Twinings or Tayors. Their teas are generally economical and more “robust”. Their Aromatic Earl Grey has a lot of Bergamot flavor but some people say it is too strong.
I would try as many brands as you can. Beg samples from friends!

Well, Twinings are very popular in my country although they are one of the most expensive commercial teas available. I tried blue one. It has got some extra fruits which IMO overpower Earl Grey scent. It tastes more like typical fruity tea, than traditional Earl Grey tea I am familiar with. However I do not like very strong bergamot scents. I prefer ones that are subtle, natural, on the light side. There are many Earl Greys which give you this artificial perfume afertaste… yuck.
Tayors of Harrogate are unavailable in my country. Only shipping. I find Ahmad teas way too robust. I drink tea to relax and it plain, without sugar and milk, so I prefer mild teas.
I am interested in Twinings Earl Grey, the yellow one. Did you drink it? Is the scent strong or rather subtle? How about tea strenght?
Honestly, I haven’t tried Twinings in years and I don’t recall much about it. I am in Mexico now and herbal tisanes are more popular here. Black tea is very hard to find!
Twinings list their international blend Earl Grey as “light” in flavor so it might be worth trying. You can shorten steep times to keep the flavors light too.
I have Ahmad that I bought in the U.S. and I mix it with lighter tea to tone down all that flavor. That might be worth trying too!
Earl Grey from Harney & Sons is by far the best,they have three versions, all of which are great. My favorite is the Earl Grey Supreme.
What’s the third EG? I noticed that the new Murder On the Orient Express tea is a black/oolong/bergamot.
Gingerbread, it is Earl Grey, Earl Grey Imperial and Earl Grey Supreme, the Imperial only comes in sackets (I think). I like the regular too, the Imperial is good, but I prefer loose leaf to sackets for everyday use.

I followed your advice and bought Twinings Earl Grey (yellow tin). I have not tried it yet, but smells nice. It has very light aroma. I will try it tomorrow for my breakfast.

I am sorry Twinings was not your ultimate tea. You might try mixing it with another tea. Sometimes mixing will yield the best tea because you choose the tastes you want.

No problem. Today I bought Earl Grey from Sir Adalbert’s Tea company. Have you ever heard about them? It seems like they operate mainly in Poland, but I guess like many tea importers they are a part of a bigger importing group. However, tea tastes great. In dry leaves bergamot scent is quite strong but pleasant and natural. However in infusion it becomes more mellow. For me it is what I am looking for in a cup of Earl Grey.

Earl Grey is my favorite tea..The best I’ve ever had, hand down, by far (it’s just soo good I can’t even express) is from Westholme Tea!!
