Tea Subscription Box

Hi Everyone,

My name is Doug with Sips by a personalized tea subscription service that matches tea lovers to exciting new tea-tasting opportunities. Members begin their journey by filling out their unique profile on https://www.sipsby.com/, then the fun begins.

Every month Sips by sends four premium teas chosen from over 100 brands found around the world. All boxes shipped will make at least 15 cups of tea, sometimes many more. The personalized tea box also contains steeping guides, biodegradable tea filters and exclusive offers from different tea brands.

When you subscribe to Sips by’s tea discovery box, you’re matched with a tea expert who learns your tastes and sends you unique teas to try each month—all boxes are truly unique to your preferences.

Please let me know what you think. We hope some of you think this is a good idea!

I would, but your website appears to be down for maintenance.

Sorry about that. No maintenance was scheduled. Not sure why that would happen on your computer.

It worked this time. I signed up. Hope it’s worth it! I do wish you’d separate out rooibos and honeybush though, in your quiz. I don’t mind rooibos but I’m allergic to honeybush so I had to say no to both.

Great, I really hope you enjoy your experience. I’m sending your feedback to the right person to try to fix that problem. Thank you for the feedback, it’s very helpful!

I have an update – If you email [email protected] with any allergies that are not on the quiz they will update your profile for you. Hope that helps!

Has anyone tried Sips By? I am tempted to try it, even though I really don’t need more tea. :)

We hope you like it if you decide to try it. Just let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Not sure why the original response was deleted, but this was the first instance I heard of Sipsby, and I’m pretty certain I would not purchase from them.

I have, first box this month, I think. I’ll try to remember to update here what I get so you can make a decision.

I ordered my first box and was able to see the selections made for my April box this morning. I’m excited about 3 out of the 4 teas being sent, and I may very well like the one that I’m not as excited about (a straight black tea, which I would never purchase but I left my questionnaire more broad because I want to try new things!)

That being said, I want to make a gentle suggestion after reading the thread that was linked above. The “face” of your company that deals with customer service (or with said Internet threads) should ideally be someone who is not personally invested. When you work really hard on something and put your heart and soul into it, it’s easy to take things personally and get defensive when people are trashing the thing for which you’ve essentially sacrificed your life for whatever period of time you’ve been at it. Someone who doesn’t have those emotions invested will have a much easier time smiling and nodding even when comments made are unfair (like judging the entire subscription service based on one box.) And maybe you are the person who is less invested (husband? New employee?) In which case, yay!

Regardless of what’s being said here, I’ve seen posts from lots of people who are happy with their boxes, and/or who seem to be getting better boxes as they’re reviewing the ones they receive. I’ve also seen very pleasant social media interactions even with negative comments, so hopefully that was just one of those bad days we all have. I think Sips By is an awesome idea and I’m really looking forward to receiving my box!

That is really nice to hear. We hope you really enjoy your experience. Any feedback you can send me is very helpful. Thanks!

I’m relatively pleased with my first box, that arrived yesterday.

4 sachets of Harney & Sons ‘Organic Green Tea with Mint’
4 sachets of Zest Tea ‘Blue Lady Black’ which I’m interested to see how the hibiscus blends with the black tea and if it really has coffee level of caffeine in it.
10g of Heirloom Tea Co ‘Wild Wuyi Black Tea’, this one will be interesting, I think.
10g of MiCacao ‘Cacao Tea’, which surprisingly I’ve never tried a cacao tea before. Teas with cacao ingredients, sure, but never a straight cacao tea.

There’s a good range of caffeine content. I said I was okay with bagged and loose and there’s half and half of each. There’s nothing here I said I wasn’t okay with (no honeybush yay). There’s a nice little write up of a sentence or two for each tea on a little card. If I had instagram, I’d definitely post my box, but alas.

I’m not going to return to this thread again for this box unless one of them is truly awful but I will put up tasting notes for each and probably rate them on the sipsby site too.
