Just thought I'd share....

Almost a month or so ago I put a “ziplocked” package of sugar cubes in my cereal cabinet. Almost a week ago I decided to use some sugar cubes with my delicious BTC Earl Grey (I probably enjoy this more than I should). To my surprise, the ziplock hadn’t sealed when I had stored it and it literally picked up every flavor of cereal I own lol.

I took it to the next step. I thought that maybe I could use this “flavor magnet” feature of sugar cubes to my advantage. I threw a couple of them on some wax paper and put it in the earl grey container for about a week. This definitely changed the sugar’s flavor to a more neutral flavor (as if it were earl grey flavored sugar), and it was almost like there wasn’t much sugar by the taste, yet it was the expected sweetness. I’m going to store them longer on my next try, but thought that I’d share. I know some people like the sweetness of sugar but don’t like the added sugar taste.

Wonks: Interesting. I love doing (and hearing about) zany experiments.

Thanks for reporting your experimental results to us. : )

I’ll definitely report back with the results of the new cubes. For science!

Sounds like a great way to flavor desserts or add Earl grey flavor to unflavored tea. The possibilities!
