Bag in or bag out?

I know most of us here drink loose leaf teas, but I was curious….for the times you use a teabag do you leave it in the cup or take it out during drinking?

Me…I tend to leave the teabag in. I don’t think it oversteeps regardless of whatever flavor of tea I am drinking. And at work I find I can hit the cafeteria & add more hot water to keep drinking the tea all morning or all afternoon.

Depends on the tea. If its green or white, I take it out. I’ve had bagged teas go astringent on me. For herbals, I leave them in. I especially like peppermint left overnight. All the menthol comes out. It’s awesome. If I want to resteep a bag, I just put it on the side.

If I toss it in my thermos before leaving, I won’t bother taking it out. But if I’m just drinking it in a mug, I’ll take it out… I never used to though, I just started doing that when I started getting into loose leaf tea and learning more about tea in general. I agree though, I don’t think it makes all that much difference with bagged teas.

I just got a mug with a screen so I can keep the loose tea leafs in while I drink. While this is convenient and looks pretty cool watching your leaves expand I don’t see myself using it too much.

I’m a fan of steeping my tea and removing the bag and then resteeping. I find that I can get more out of my tea leaves than leaving them in the mug with the screen.

I’m also still a newb but learning fast! I love this site!

I’m fairly new here too. Read everything! You’ll learn a lot from the people here. Plus you might find yourself shopping at new places like I did!

I’ll definitely be expanding where I buy my teas. I do love the teas where I first went to but figure I should try others as well.

The first place I started buying from on-line, I still like them, but I am finding new places on here. FYI…check out California Tea House. I am a big fan of theirs now!

Thanks Sunny! I’ll definitely check them out! Any recommendations? My favorite teas are green and oolong. Really digging the oblongs right now. Need to try some whites!

Definitely try their Lime in the Coconut. Right now that is absolutely my favorite green tea. I love lime!! The tea is just amazing! I love it iced, but it is also delightful hot.

As for a white, try the White Peony. I need to make another cup to post my review of it…but right now, I love it.

Sounds good! I really like anything citrus so I will get some next pay day along with the white peony. Thanks for the recommendations!

No problem.
Hope you like them.

I always take it out. If it hasn’t steeped long enough, I don’t want to drink it. If it is over steeped… I don’t want to drink it. I suppose the only time someone would ever want to leave it in (outside of being lazy) is if it’s herbal tea of some sort.

I went on a bag binge today. I used a timer and removed the bag each time. Before I started using loose leaf, I always left the bag in the cup. My stomach hurt most of the time. Take the bag out.

I leave mint bags in the cup, but all others come out after a few minutes. I find they get really bitter and I don’t like that.

I generally take them out, since I never know when I’m going to end up forgetting that I have a half a cup of tea left and accidentally end up steeping for hours! It also means that I won’t have it bumping my nose.

Definitely bag out, on the odd occasion that I go for a tea bag instead of loose tea.

I never leave it in, simply as a habit I developed when I started. Also, whenever I leave it in, it bonks me in the lips, which throws me off from the taste.
