NYC Coffee & Tea Festival

For the next 4 days kgb deals is offering tickets to the NYC Coffee and Tea festival for only $10 (they are normally $22). http://www.kgbdeals.com/new-york-city/deals/79161/54-discount-on-admission-to-the-2012-coffee-and-tea-festival

The festival is Feb 25 and 26 in midtown Manhattan. I went last year and it was pretty fun, with a bunch of tea companies offering samples and some interesting demonstrations. I’m really excited for this year’s!

I’m a total moron and bought two tickets at full price and then searched for deals on them. I found that CBS is also doing a $10 promo for this event. I am so sad. I’ll just have to consume $20 worth of samples to make up for it!

I’ll be there with a group of friends on Saturday. Maybe we’ll catch a glimpse of each other while running from booth to booth. :)

It’s basically the same deal as listed by Dinosara, but in case you like choices, here’s the one from CBS: :)

Yeah I have totally been waiting and hoping that a deal would pop up like last year, when I got a groupon for it. I’ll be there Saturday dragging my non-tea-or-coffee-drinking boyfriend around!

Used the same KGB deal a few weeks back. First time going but I’m really excited and have heard great things about past events. I’m planning on going on Saturday but will I be missing much by not attending Sunday?

Dinosara said

I’ve only attended one day in the past, and I’ll only be there one day this time. Unless you want to attend a lot of the seminars, you won’t hardly miss anything by going only one day.

Had a great time today at this Coffee & Tea Expo.
First off, the goodie bags were okay. There were mostly flyers, but there were a few tea bags to try some new things. There was even one coffee in a teabag! Can’t wait to try it. And I received an issue of Fresh Cup magazine.

The expo offered tons for tea drinkers!
I bought from quite a few people & have a new favorite flavor of the moment….Ice Wine Delight! OMG! I’m drooling over this cup now!!!

And I found a new travel mug for loose leaf tea which I am going to put through the tests tomorrow.

I am amazed at how many tea makers there are in the world. OMG! I’ve got lots to try & I’m going to be working on reviews till the end of time!!

For the record….if you are lucky to go to one of these events near you, I highly suggest you go! There were tons of specials offered in addition to wonderful people sharing their passion for tea. I was thankful for all the people who spent time talking to me today.

And a big thanks to my best bud Raul for getting me to go!! Dude, plan it for next year as well. I’m going back for more!!!

I think the goodie bags were a little better last year, but overall they were pretty similar. I noticed this time a lot less places had free sample sachets for you to take and brew later.

Overall it was fun, but I always wish it was bigger! LOL. Never enough tea for me.

I think I expected that as well. Oddly enough, a few of the vendors that were giving tea tasting samples, most were generous, but a few gave barely a sip. It didn’t make me want to buy from them.

Did you try the Ice Wine Delight from Taking Tea in Style? OMG! I am over the moon about it!!! And they were so nice. They shared a generous amount & you could have one cup of every flavor they were offering. Plus the ladies were really nice!

Somehow I totally missed that one! Oh well, that leaves tea to discover for next year. I look forward to reading your tasting note about it! :) My favorite new vendor was Capital Teas, I really enjoyed trying their teas!

Oddly enough, I didn’t like Capital Teas. I tried their Cream Earl Grey & it was eh. I didn’t find them very friendly either. But I’ll await your reviews & maybe consider giving them a try…..at a later date!

That’s the thing about these tastings I guess… conditions aren’t always great, so tastings vary pretty wildly.

I was thinking something similar last night…..but I was turned off by the people who greeted us. They didn’t bother to even say hello…it was just some lady with a blank look on her face pouring tea. I mean, I know it must be hard to try to be so upbeat all day, but it was barely an hour into the show when we got to her. Everyone else was very friendly. Oh well….I might give them a try somewhere down the road.

I’m going to take forever to review each tea I tried. There were just so many!!

I definitely had a good time as well. Next time I really need to pace myself because I totally over caffeinated and ran around like a maniac in every direction insisting that I had to see everything. I had the attention span of a goldfish too. my sister had to keep looking for me in the crowd. And this is why I drink so much rooibos and honeybush even though I think real tea is awesomer.

I was super excited to finally taste some Gorreanna tea since I hear such great things but I guess the brewing conditioners were suboptimal since it was totally astringent and undrinkable. Sad. Still! So many lovely samples and tea people. :)

I also would have liked to stay longer but my friends looked bored and hungry and wanted to go. Next time I go alone! The seminars for Sunday looked better than for Saturday so next time I also need to do better research on which day I attend. Anyways, got some new teas to try and a bunch of cookies so I’m happy. :)

I loved how the vendors were social & yes, I’m sure part of it was to sell their product….but most were friendly even if I didn’t buy from them. And I did buy a great selection of new teas to review….oy! I’m going to be posting reviews forever!!!!
