Health Benefits of Tea

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share with you this study currently being done at the University of Guelph. A particular mint plant has been selectively bred to contain an increased level of a bioactive ingredient (rosmarinic acid) with implications in relieving osteoarthritis. The test subjects are being administered the treatment using a tisane infusion.

Here’s an article if you are interested in learning more about the subject:

I am very interested in the use of Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals for the prevention and treatment of disease. In Canada green tea is recognized to be a “source of antioxidants for the maintenance of good health” and “to be used with a program of reduced intake of dietary calories and increased physical activity (if possible) to help in weight management”.

Has anyone seen this kind of recognition for any types of tea in other countries?

thanks for posting this!!

i believe i read some where that in a study they did in asia with people who drank a substantial amount of green tea a day (10+ cups) were at a lower risk of heart disease. they also said matcha was great for clearing up skin and losing weight. i’ve been getting interested in the benefits of herbal tea lately, and it’s crazy how much stuff is out there that really helps with everyday stuff!

Hmm now if only there was a green tea that had less nauseating phenols!! I would love to enjoy the stuff… but I just can’t stomach it :(
