Teaopia Travel Mug with strainer

Teapoia carries a few different variations of this mug and I have two… I’ve always used the “strainer” as an infuser, but I’m wondering if anyone uses it as a strainer instead. Obviously this would only work with teas that you don’t mind steeping for as long as it takes you to drink your tea, but I was wondering how everyone else does it. These mugs have been my go-to travel and work mugs, and I realize it’s hot to remove the strainer after steeping, and I might try it as an infuser soon. I need to invest in a press- or infuser travel mug soon, but I’m having a hard time deciding which one to buy!
