My advice is to not worry and order what looks or sounds good, even the 2018 teas. Yunnan Sourcing simply doesn’t sell bad tea. Although there’s a heavy love of aged teas in the community, a new harvest can taste incredible as well. I highly recommend any oolongs or green teas from 2018. Alternatively if you like black tea I just ordered this and am very happy: https://yunnansourcing.com/products/certified-organic-yunnan-pure-bud-black-tea-spring-2018

King of Duck Shit Aroma is excellent, as is the Simao Spring Tips and High Mountain Red. My favourite will always be the Hairy Crab Oolong and Ben Shans, but I see you prefer Dan Cong and darker oolongs, so they might not be to your taste.

For black teas, I really enjoyed Flowering Yunnan Feng Qing Black Tea Cones and Imperial Feng Qing Dian Hong. Both are malty, cocoa and Earthy notes. The Dian Hong is a fabulous “every day” tea and is very affordable. The cones are very chocolately (one of the most chocolately blacks I’ve had that wasn’t a Laoshan black).

King of Duck Shit Aroma is one of my favourites, very floral and sweet. The Wild Tree Purple Moonlight White Tea is also incredible :) Delicate but rewarding flavour if you brew it properly.

Love that purple needle of jing mai.

The ye sheng purple varietal I find just tastes weird and definiely does not deliver the bitterness that it seems to be known for, in either of two black teas or raw puer that I have tried.

Ai lo is excellent.

Simao spring tips and Imperial mojiang are quality but not unique.

Have been enjoying assamic black and white teas lately and using them to wake up my palate before drinking young raw pu’er. Would try Nan Nou, Yiwu and Assamica Gold Needle black teas from YS to get a sense of the difference between sinensis and assamica black teas. Sometimes assamica takes some age to open up though so try a 2017 version with a 2018 to see difference. Assamica blacks seemed a bit flat or bland at first but now I find them amazing and drink assamica whites and blacks regularly. Sinensis whites and blacks have started to all smell and taste the same to me now but they do have more floral stuff going on.

Mostly drinking and spending money on pu’er. As far as oolong goes, I have not opened that door yet because I would kinda like to have money for things like food and rent.

That seems like a good list. If you want even more Dan Cong, I cannot recommend the “Wu Dong Chou Shi Dan Cong” enough. That one completely blew me away.

Simao Spring Tips Pure Bud is a nice black tea, but if you do not want to insist on pure buds, personally Black Gold Bi Luo Chun is more robust and I enjoy it better.

Then there’s also “Light Roast Wild Tree Purple Varietal Black Tea of Dehong”, which is a little bit similar to “Feng Qing Ye Sheng Hong Cha” and “High Mountain Red Ai Lao” (which is a good thing, those are both great), but different enough to be interesting to try as well.

I actually ordered this year’s Hou Zhong, Rose Aroma, and Classic Mi Lan Xiang dan congs, but haven’t got around to trying them yet. I also bought the 2017 versions of both the Wu Dong Chou Shi and Chou Shi King of Duck Shit dan congs, and of these two very similar teas, I liked the Wu Dong the best. I wasn’t thrilled with the Imperial Mojiang Golden Bud black tea, though YMMV. The Premium and Imperial Tie Guan Yins from YS are good if you enjoy that sort of thing (which I do).

thank you to everyone!Ok guys, you convinced me! I added the Black Gold Bi Luo Chun and switched the chou shi duck shit with chou shi wu don (I’ve already, in my basket, the classic processed Duck Shit that is the one that i wanna try absolutely). About Simao spring buds, i wanna try this one (2018) of YS cause i want to compare it with another Simao spring of 2015 that i bought here in Italy and i fell in love with it.

Their best stuff is the puerhs. Try some of their house pressed cakes.

i know that YS is mainly focused on puerhs but i’m not very attracted by puerhs tea (Shu or sheng, their both good but not so much for me).
anyway, i think that Oolongs, Blacks and Greens (also purplish and white) ,on YS, are tea of high/good quality. The reviews, that i read on internet, (here and also Reddit tea) brought me to place an ordere on YS. I just hope to make the right thing :)
