Thoughts on Bubble Tea?

I absolutely love boba tea! There are plenty of places that sell it around me. I love the tapioca pearls when they are fresh and are still a little warm from being cooked. As for different types of boba tea, I’ve tried a lot, such as slushies, smoothies, teas, hot, and cold. I love strawberry flavors, honey dew melon, and more. Milk teas are good… Taro is too.. Basically I’m obsessed with boba tea. I even make it at home when I’m feeling up for it. :)

Uhm….
Bubble Tea for Bubble Heads?

No, that’s not right, my youngest daughter loves it. Her happiest day at school this year was when they opened a Bubble Tea shop just off campus.

I’ve tried it once or twice with Lychee flavor syrup but the chewy consistency of the tapioca balls didn’t appeal to me. And then I was afraid they’d get stuck in that wide straw and when i tried to “suck” them out, they’d go shooting out, up into my thoat and without anyone around to give me the Heimlich Manoever, that I’ll choke to death.

Anyone have a good recipe/blend for just the black milk tea? I actually don’t know jack about black teas as I mainly consume greens, but I can’t help but shell out $3 every so often for bubble tea.

Bubble tea is pretty good, but I think it depends on the flavour. I really like when I get the tapioca pearls in there, but don’t care for the shreds of jelly or whatever they are. I heard that it’s pretty high in calories though so I try to avoid it.

I agree with the original post. I just don’t get it. The bubbles feel like snot in your mouth and the rest of it doesn’t even remotely resemble tea. I think it’s weird lol

I love, love, love it! I don’t get it often b/c the place by us that had it went out of business. :( It is always a once-in-a-long-while treat because of the sugar in it. But they are the only people who really get lychee flavoring just right.

I adore bubble or boba teas.
First one I had was in China Town in Honolulu, I watched the gal make it.
It had real black tea and half and half and cane sugar with ice and and the boba’s.
Then I came home, and tried one at a little coffee house type place.
Blech!
Sugary and I could hardly find any taste that resembled tea in it.
I did find a yummy place in Seattle that made it with real tea and was it good, however they added a smidge too much sweetener still.
Here where I live now, there isnt any shops that have even heard of it, so I bought my own supplies off the Internet and make my own.
It isn’t difficult and I like having control of how sweet or milky I want it.

I think it all depends on where you have your first experience and how authentic they make it.
