Fancy a biscuit?

Yesterday as I sipped a delicious blend I conconcted I began to have the urge for a nice biscuit with my tea. Not something too sweet or savory – maybe something like a shortcake biscuit? I just wanted something to crunch or dunk in the cup and enjoy along with my tea.

And that made me realize I have no clue what biscuits are best for pairing with tea, or even what brands/types exist out there. It seems a whole new world of tea accessory to me!

So what is your favorite cookie, cracker, or biscuit to pair with tea, and what type of tea do you think it fits best with?! Brands and/or links greatly appreciated.

If I had the time and energy to bake, I would have homemade scones with preserves everyday with my tea. Lots of recipes out there for scones. Other than that, any pastry and even slices of toast with cinnamon satisfies. As for type of tea? For me, any tea except herbals with my pastries.

I love just plain shortbreads, especially the Girl Scout ones. I stock up when they come around :)

Doh! I didn’t even think of Girl Scout ones. I’ll definitely have to stock up next time they’re selling!

Lorna Doone shortbread cookies are very close to GS shortbread cookies.

All good suggestions! I LOVE scones but also those Dutch butter cookies in the round blue tin are excellent. I have found a treasure as well in those cheap store brand hard cookies that usually come in many different flavors! For one dollar a package they are a great value to have with tea!
Scones always are the winner for me though!
When I have nothing else I will do an english muffin topped with anything from Clotted Cream when I have some, or cream cheese which is good as you can go sweet or savory with that, or just butter, or butter and cinnamon and sugar, or jam, etc so on…very versatile but my muffin has to be toasted till crispy or it does not make me happy. I always have english muffins around!
Oh also … shortbread is very easy to make at home as well!

Trader Joe’s has these cookies I like with tea but I can’t remember what they are. I guess I have to go there now.

Scones are great too, they’re also pretty easy to make: http://www.joyofbaking.com/scones.html I imagine it might not be difficult to half that recipe (though it might require a scale for the butter) and not be drowning in scones if you are only one person.

Okay, that makes me more excited we are getting a Trader Joe’s in town soon!

You will love it! There are so many cookies and breads to choose from, it’s really the perfect place to pick up something to go with tea!

Oh which tea company is it that sends a free cookie with each order? Yes I am in fact intrigued by the free cookie and is enough to make me place an order LOL Wish I could remember who it was!

They are wafer thins, they have lemon and coconut and I think one other kind. I decided to try something different and get these Belgian butter waffle biscuits. Mini biscotti are also good too with a strong black tea. And a slice of brioche and jam is good too!

All these replies have made me decide to go to get up early and go to the store in the morning and see if I can’t find a few biscuits to try out! I’m sure I can find a few mentioned here – like Lorna Doone sounds like something I’ve seen on a shelf before.

Thanks all!

Alright, I just have to say, dipping a Lorna Doone in my Zingiber Ginger Coconut and Earl Grey Creme Teavana mix tea was the perfect thing to hit the spot and totally relax me this afternoon.

Now I’m excited to sample other cookie/biscuit and tea combinations! I can see the biscuit collection getting just as out of hand as the tea collection. My husband will be so happy lol!
