Just started A MEANINGFUL LIFE by LJ DAVIS. It’s my second NYRB Classics book and I got to say I’m in love with this publisher. I just want to read everything they’ve put out.

Started reading Dune, finally after having it on my shelf for ages. Very good so far!

I really enjoyed the first one. I loved the mini-series on the space channel :D

Re-reading Jasper Fforde’s The Fourth Bear at the moment, then on to The Borrower (which I got from the library) or the first Vampire Diaries book. I decided I might as well find out how much the show diverges from the book. I read/watch too much ‘trash.’ :D But I love it!

there’s the original Vampire 4 books which were awesome then she wrote junk… When you get to the junk switch to Stephen Diaries which is written by The Vampire Diaries TV show people and it’s really good. It’s also is based off the show so you get the TV past history :D

DAMON RULES!! I want Damon and Elena together the TV version anyway :D The original books can stick with the Stephen and Elena couple :D

I once wiki-ed the whole storyline and learned that she wanted Damon with Elena but the publisher owned the rights (or something to that effect) and wanted it to be Stephen, so there was a break-up and she tried to do things differently. I like Damon way more than I should (from the show, at least).

the Show Damon rocks!! The only reason I watched Lost was because I heard that actor was in it… so I watched and then he died…. stupid Lost…

LOST SPOILERS:::
If it helps, everyone on Lost died… except for maybe Hurley.

Jasper Fforde is fun—along with the Tuesday Next series, I read “The Big Over Easy.” Liked Tuesday a little better.

Fforde’s Shades of Grey was really good, such a cool idea!

While I have a deep and abiding fondness for Thursday Next, Shades of Grey is my favourite. The news is that he’s working on a Shades of Grey book next BUT it’s a prequel! I re-read all of Fforde’s book this year, I like to do it before each new release. The latest Thursday book is to be release in US/Canada in Sept or Oct!

Finishing up James Rollin’s Ice Hunt. I started reading it months ago and then put it down. I’m now trying to finish it, I only have 1/4 of the book left and it’s not a bad book. Then again I do love James Rollin’s books.

Have you read Subterranean by James Rollins? It is probably my favorite of his.

Not yet, it’s one of the few I haven’t read by him. That one, Excavation and Deep Fathom are the only ones I have left to read other than the two mini stories that are only available for e-readers.

What authors have you read that are similar to James Rollins?

Not that they are really that similar, but I highly suggest anything from David Baldacci or James Patterson.

Awesome, I’ve heard of them both but never read anything by either of them. I’ll have to check them out then, thank you.

James Patterson is really good. I’ve read Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll have to check those out. Is the movie Kiss the Girls starring Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman based off the book?

Yep that’s the movie :D it was the second time he played Alex Cross. He did it in the movie Along Came a Spider too. The movies if I recall were pretty close to the books.

Those were good movies, now I’ll definitely have to check out those books!

I just finished reading “Room” byEmma Donoghue. Right now I’m back and forth with “The Dovekeepers” by Alice Hoffman and “Mysterious Skin” whose author escapes me at the moment. Neither are holding my interest particularly well though.

Room was a weird read. I enjoyed it, but it’s hard to enjoy the subject matter. Got under my skin, that’s for sure!

It was a good read, a little haunting. I couldn’t put it down, I think I finished it in two days. I know I was late for work once.

Merle’s Door, and I made the mistake of peeking ahead because someone told me how it ends so I was sobbing on the sofa for a while…
