Texas steepsters?

Any other Texas steepsters around here? I would love to hook up like our NYC steepies are attempting to. Not really weather for hot tea right now, but perhaps we could rent a large walk-in freezer to hang out in. haha It would at least be nice just to know I am not the only nut down here who enjoys the finer teas in life…yes it is true – we are not ALL hicks down here. I know it is hard to believe.

I feel that way here in south Florida. I wonder which place is worst lol. I have NO tea shops in my area.

I live in the Tampa area, do I can sympathize. Although there are plenty of coffee and breweries around. Bleh.

Yeah it’s really lame, I hate it here. At least you have Kaleisia up there.

Kaleisia is cool, but it’s still not that close to me. I’m about 45 minutes away from it.

Well, on the bright side, I bet they don’t get the pleasure up north from a tall freezing glass of iced tea the way we do… Except for maybe the last couple of years with the heat waves up there.
I think everyone should experience both, but I know people who would say, “There is no way in cornbread hell,” to trying hot tea. ;0)

You say hot tea here and people think you are high. Just a bunch of good ole boys who probably think an oolong would be something to shoot, skin, and put in a stew.

yuck

Such is the hick hell in which I live. Do you realize how hard it is to be vegetarian in Texas? Lol

For some reason I thought you lived in Austin, which I thought was about the best place for a veggie/vegan to live in Texas.

I wish I did. Austin is the shining oasis in the desert.

I’m in Canada, but I just wanted to drop a line and say how mightily I sympathize with the sentiments you’ve expressed here about where you live.

I live in Calgary, otherwise known as “Cow Town,” “Texas of the North,” and “the buckle of Canada’s Bible Belt.” Feels sometimes like I’m surrounded by yahoos! I could go on and on about my neighbours; last night they were revving their giant pick-up trucks in the back alley for no apparent reason until midnight, and the whole neighbourhood convened there because…apparently…this is cause for a party? WHOO TRUCKS. I COULD KILL THINGS WITH MY PENIS. I don’t know.

Lol. It is like a mating call for rednecks. I feel your pain brother!

Ha!

The family across the alley also have friends in a horrible-sounding country-western band. Every summer they have at least one night where they throw a concert until 3 in the morning. I’m willing to believe that’s the only gig they get all year, which is why it lasts so long.

Haha!!! I had no idea Canada had such hicks! It is given we have them, but who knew their broken down old trucks could have made it so far north!!

Haha, oh yes, not ALL of Canada is a bastion of pinko commies. :P Southern Alberta is pretty hick (and generally considered the laughingstock of the country as a result). It helps to know that our biggest industries are oil, gas and cattle ranching. Also, there is a big rodeo scene, so we have a lot of people who come up from places like Texas, and native Calgarians who spend half their life in the southern U.S. as well. shrug

Rodeos in Canada?!? Now that would be something to see! Lol

I live in Dallas.

Well hello Dallas!! Perhaps there is hope for Texas after all. How is the tea scene where you are?

As far as I know there is not one. Just me and a few friends.

That is what I was afraid of. Well perhaps someday, with our help, we can convince these people hot tea is a wondermus thing. Then we can schedule a meet and greet!!

I’m out in West Texas right now, but I’ll be back in the Austin area soon once classes start. Austin is definitely one of the best places in Texas to be as far as tea goes.
