2019 Year of the Sipdown Challenge
Well, I fell one tea short of my stretch goal for March. If I had not gotten jammed up at the end of the month with a big family event, people coming in town, countless errands, etc. it would have been simple enough to sip down a sample and get to 15 for the month, but I just didn’t have time to focus on it.
On the plus side, I have one sipdown for April so far.
I have about 10 sipdowns in the last 2 months. I’m only down two teas overall in the stash. I don’t feel like I’m making much progress. I need to go back to the roasted oolongs and the older teas in tins. And all of the smaller packages…
I want to order more tea. I’ve got a cart full of white tea I want to buy.
I have teas I feel as though I’ll never sip down — it’s like they multiply overnight. Unfortunately, I think I have to sometimes pick the ones with not as much left even if I like them more, just so I can record the sipdown. Cold brews are big leaf-eaters, too, so anything that seems like it would be nice cold and that I have enough of to make a pitcher with goes into the pitcher. Mine takes 8 David’s tea spoons full, so that makes short shrift of many in my stash.
I have some tea I need to purge – even without drinking it! A few that I’m worried might have gone off, but I’m a little afraid to open to check. :0 And just toss the smoked lapsang souchong…
I should go do that tonight. I don’t like tossing teas, but I’m never gonna drink it anyway.
I like cold brews a lot. It just needs to be warmer here first.
Just over halfway through April, and I am close to my goal (though not the stretch) for this month. After today I’ll either have reached it or be one tea away.
How is everyone else doing?
Over 600 teas again; so not exactly where I’d like to be. Goal this weekend is simply to get under 600 – sticking with short term goals right now.
I’ve been wanting to drop my count by 25 each month but I’m at 465 right now so I can tell I’m probably not going to reach 450 in a mere 10 days. It’s okay though, since I was setting my sights a bit high when I’ve mostly been working through really big packages that have been taking me a long time to get through. I’ve sipped down 13 teas so far this month.
You have to sneak in a small sample or two every now and then, just to feel good about the numbers ;) Small progress is still progress.
Made my April goal today! I don’t think I’m going to make the stretch goal though, unless I decide to sip down some samples.
Well, I didn’t quite reach where I hoped to make it in April — I wanted to drop my total count to 450, but only managed to reach 458. I had 21 sipdowns in April which still isn’t bad, especially since I finished off at least a couple 2 oz. bags of tea!
I am off pace, all of a sudden. I am at 7 for the month of May. I am likely to have to kill off a couple of samples to make it to 10.
How is everyone else doing?
I haven’t really been working on them this month (I think I’m only through 5 so far? Been hard to even keep track…). I lost my companion animal of 21 years at the beginning of the month and it’s kinda thrown my life in turmoil. I’ve been busy with grieving and trying to transition from apartment to buying a house (my apartment refused to honor my doctor’s request for a new companion animal and I need one in my life for my health) so I just haven’t really had time to make tea a priority (and may have to be packing the massive collection up soon anyway).
Thanks. Only six sipdowns in May, but like I said, haven’t really been hitting at the tea very hard. Still sitting at 460 since a few things have trickled in to balance out the few things that have trickled out.
I definitely lost ground this month, but I’ve juuust squeaked past my goal for the month, at 154 teas. Might get another couple in today if I’m lucky. However, my tea in is definitely greater than tea out, sooo it’s kind of false progress. Haha.
Well, it’s summer and my tea consumption is suffering. I am only at 4 for June, though I still have time to get to my goal if I polish off some samples.
I also discovered that I have a love-hate relationship with cold chamomile/lavender. I had way too much Harney Yellow and Blue. I bought some mega bag of it. Not sure what possessed me. I was enjoying it for a while and then I started not enjoying it quite so much because I felt like it was something I’d never have a prayer of finishing. So I decided to experiment by cold brewing it.
Depending on the day and how thirsty I am when I drink it, it is either tasty and refreshing or gross. ;-)
I haven’t been counting but I’ve made some progress using some older teas for cold brew. Of course now I’m tempted to re-order some of them so I can keep making cold brew!
First I should look to see what else I probably won’t get to in a reasonable amount of time and try it as cold brew.
