Yixing on eBay
Long time follower, first time poster.
I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on buying cheap yixing pots on eBay. I purchased one a few weeks ago for $20 and I am happy with it but I am just curious if it is legit or not. Has anyone else had any experiences with buying pots on eBay, good or bad?

I bought a yellowish teapot from this store. It is 180ml.
I haven’t gotten one off of ebay. I got mine from TeaSource for around $20-30 as they’re local here in MN. I have however purchased other wares from overseas without a problem.
I order from ShanghaiStory often, but I haven’t ordered any YiXing so far. Rebeca’s teas are pretty good, except a few that I don’t really enjoy. Other than teas I got some porcelain and glass teaware and it’s good.
I have purchased one on Ebay because I loved the look of it. Its nice, good sound to it. I guess we do have to worry about lead content in them though. I don’t really know if the ebay ones can be trust worthy on that level. Its so pretty though I do love having it.
As for trustworthy places to get yixing I would say Mandala Teas. Garret there is someone I would personally trust with good yixing pots that are affordable.
I purchased two of my three yixing mugs on ebay … but that was from when Jade Teapot was going out of business and I purchased those. I don’t know about other companies quality. I do know that I LOVE my yixing mugs though.
Hi Tyler. The only way to know if your yixing pot is legit is to see if it stands the test of time and use. Does it season well? Does it retain heat better than other pots? Does the flavor of the brew get better over time?
Another thing to consider: an authentic yixing pot will usually have three stamps, or “brands,” on them. One is usually on the bottom of the pot, one can usually be found on the bottom of the handle, and one more is likely to be found on the underside of the lid. If your pot has these stamps, then it is probably legit.
